I got some stuff out of the Prius, and I realized I had a couple of things in the garage that I had taken out or wasn't using. This list isn't complete, as I'm sure I've forgotten something:

Rear hatch retractable cover
Both rear headrests
Factory speakers (except center)
JL Audio Cleansweep SSI and dsp (no wiring harnesses)
JL Audio 4 channel amp (300/4)
Factory wipers (front and rear)
tire straps for securing flat
I still have my 2006 stock suspension
4 centerline wheels/tires with TPS's

The sub and amp are going to my brother.

The insurance reimbursed me for the rest of the stuff. I made sure they paid for hte speakers I put in, because I really didn't have the time to remove them all.

If anyone needs any of this stuff, let me know. I'm looking to get rid of it all.

Makes me wonder how my mum and dad got by with 8 kids and an FC Holden Station Wagon?

I sat in the 3rd row of those 7 passenger Volvo station wagon (850 I suppose since that's the only model with a wagon back in the 90s). I can assure you, it's fun as a kid cause you can see the cars behind you but not fun for the parents if they have to put stuff in the trunk and hope the kids won't kick it.

What does it tow?

(We three kids spent our youth in the back of a Ford station wagon. Bench seats front and back. Plenty of room. Same as standard sedan. The back held more groceries than a standard trunk. That was the only difference.)

I speak of a time when kids were not worth as much, back when you had a tribe of them and if one was killed in a rear ender well it was only one of 8.  Kids were cheap and you could make them at home in your spare time back then.
We sat in the back on the floor, there was no third row seat, no seat belt just 2 benches. I'm going on distant memory here, dad drove, my little sister sat on mum's lap & little brother, between mum and dad Next older brother and I (number 5) sat in the very back cargo area that left 2 oldest brothers and 2 oldest sisters in the second bench seat. We went all over like this and we didn't have LCD TVs or DVDs, we just had fun. :D

well, i know a LOT of people have really railed on your decision but i stand by my original comment that at least you tried the Prius, and later other hybrid options, and i agree, a lot of the options available are not all that great.

and the people talking here, how many of you live in a 3000 square foot house with 2 kids? is that any different than Bjorn driving a bit more car than he needs? sure if you have solar on your roof, waterwheels out in the yard, etc... ok you got something to say... but most of us live in a house that is waaay bigger than we really need. but we live there because we have worked hard to be in a position that we can afford to get something more than we just need right? well, not seeing a lot of difference here. someone needs to convince me that a 3000 sq ft house is as easy to heat, cool etc as a 2000 sq ft house. last i checked, a house that size is very comfortable for a family of 4

and as bad as it looks on the surface, i know of a few people that are exponentially worse than you. i have a lady friend, a traveling salesman no less (she sells ads for yellow book) drives probably 50-60,000 miles a year and drives a full sized Toyota landcruiser and does so because "she feels safe" well she is good at her job and makes 6 figures which is good because she is constantly complaining about the price of gas. she fills up EVERY day and at $75 a pop... she is now starting to feel it. i about choked when she told me about her $1800 gas credit card bill for ONE MONTH.
and she has one kid that she has every other weekend... so on the surface you look bad, but at least you have some justification. i know a lot of people who have NOTHING to say about what they drive

As for the (like so many dumb people that would rather pay through the nose for a bigger car to feel safer in, and whine because they have no money as it all goes into gas. Deserve what they get..)

Well Nate, I dont think anyone could or would have said some of the points that you did, ... I must have missed the post about him hitting & killing two people with his other car, Oh wait I found it this was the accident that totaled the prius  .... I cant find a post where he is spouting off about killing other people in smaller cars....

I think this is the post your refering to The Totalling of the Prius! http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=38936&hl=

I feel bad enough when I run over an animal I can just imagine a person.. Ive spoken with truck drivers that hit people, they had to change jobs... :(

Now this is completely false - that Priuslimo looks really nice and, according to it's owner, it drives really nice too.

I think you've bought in to some of the misdirected justification other SUV drivers use and is left over from the accident.

I'll ask you again. What 9,000 pound thing do you tow on a regular basis? Because if you don't tow anything, you don't need a monster truck that can tow 9,000 lbs. That's just ego.

It weighs three tons. Do you really need a monster truck that weighs 6,000 lbs to haul the wife and a few kids? Do you really need a living room on wheels?

You could have bought TWO Prii for the cost of that monster truck.

I keep saying monster truck because the stretch Navigator is built on a truck base. It's just a really big truck.

You've bought in to the bigger and more metal is safer. The fact that 16 mpg is pretty good mileage for a 3 ton truck doesn't really impress me any more than it can tow 9,000 lbs. If you don't need to tow, so what? And if the Prius was fine before, in what way is it not fine now? I don't buy the Navigator is "safer". And with that second car in your garage, you don't need "bigger" either.

I bought my Saturn after an accident. I didn't go bigger. I went safer. I went to the Consumer Reports and since the Volvo was out the Saturn had the best safety rating. The Prius with side impact air bags has a great safety rating too. I just don't see that the Navigator is safer or is necessary.

I dont look at these posts as negative attacks on Doc, but rather people voicing thier real opinions of what they really see when reading the other posts. ;)

Oh man if I had to total my HyCam, I'd get a 08 Mustang conv...... as it would make my enis look bigger in my speedos that I would wear to the car wash.. ;)

No really, the wife would tell me she wanted another Hybrid, she'd get it.. Because if momma aint happy no ones happy.. ;)

Really, I said that? I'd say that things were taken out of context, but this is not even remotely out of context. Looking forward to it? I don't ever want to be in any sort of traffic accident. I don't know of anyone who looks forward to being in an accident. You are a sad, sad person.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(naterprius @ Nov 20 2007, 12:38 PM) </div>
...and now the personal insults. See, this is the attitude that I just don't understand. If all you see around you when you drive is pretentious people in nicer cars showing off, it just reflects how shallow and insecure you yourself are. If you were comfortable with what you had then you would not make these comments. I'm not sure why you hate SUV's and their drivers so much, and honestly after this post it really doesn't matter. And as far as my genitals are concerned, I've never needed to flaunt them to show people what a great guy I am. I have my kids, they've done their job (quite well, I have to say); there is nothing that I need to compensate for. Isn't it funny though how for some people, that whenever they see someone with a sports car or some other expensive car they are always compensating. Maybe they just like cars.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(naterprius @ Nov 20 2007, 12:38 PM) </div>
No, just you. This post proved that to everyone. And it's just you that's laughing. You know, all that your post is doing is showing your own insecurity. Do I believe that people are jealous? I really don't care if people are jealous. I don't even think about it. If they are, that is their problem, not mine. I never said anything about anyone else being able to or not being able to afford this car. I'm sure there are many people here that can. It's irrelevant my getting this car, and was never brought up by me at any point in the post. When i buy a car, I buy it for myself, not for you or anyone else. Did you? Or did you buy your Prius to show everyone what a sensitive, earth friendly, intelligent guy you are.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(naterprius @ Nov 20 2007, 12:38 PM) </div>
..once again, I really don't know how you can explain this. A decent human being would not have posted a statement like this. I believe the words "stupid, or rude, or inconsiderate" are appropriate here. I can sleep because all involved have come to the understanding that it was a tragic accident. It happened and nothing can ever be done to change that. I can sleep at night because I know that there was nothing that could be done by anyone to change things. And it would not have mattered what anyone involved was driving. I honestly don't know how you can sleep at night with such insecurity and anger festering inside you.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(naterprius @ Nov 20 2007, 12:38 PM) </div>
