What car does your Prius replace?

My 2008 Prius replaced a 2002 Bonneville with 48K miles and that was not the most reliable car I've ever owned. My gal and I are quite relieved and excited to have our Prius on deck...

Still have my guzzling 1998 jeep grand cherokee 5.9l, but rarely drive it, probably use it when it snows, too much into it to sell it. The Prius is an amazing car went from my jeep 19.6L/100km to using 5.5L/100km, talk about savings!

 

I replaced my 99 Malibu. It had only 65,000 miles and I had planned to drive it until it died, but my son needed a car and I wanted him to have something I knew was in good shape with low mileage so I sold it to him. I was sad to see the Malibu go as I had really liked that car, but now I LOVE the Prius. I had always said that when I replaced the Malibu i would get a Prius if I could. Got a sweet deal and so the rest is history. Seems like there are more and more of them on the road here in Maine every day.

 

Our 2008 will be replacing a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier. That car is nearing 100,000 miles and I start to get nervous about American cars' durability at that point.

A 2000 Volvo S80 with 92,000 miles on it. Volvos are great cars but the repairs are wildly expensive. It seemed like every 4 months, there was something else (AC, etc.) going wrong and it was $600 here, $300 there...

In the end, just not worth it.

 

Replaced my 2003 Nissan Murano on 11/17/2007. Purchased my first tank of fuel for the Prius yesterday, spending $26.95 for 9.3 gallons. Used to be about 19 gallons/$54 a week with the Murano. I am so happy with the change!

 

I'm sadly trading in my 2005 Ford Mustang. I love the car and have a blast driving it. But, I feel the need to lower my consumption and get a car that doesn't use as much gas. So I'm waiting for my 2008 Prius to come off the assembly line.

The whole green thing is a good idea. I'm working on replacing light bulbs, not using paper plates or cups.

My question is, does this change your lifestyle owning a prius? I've even thought about doing the unthinkable, buying a Mac! Next thing I'll be wearing sweaeter vests and attending wine tasting. Or worse I could become a fan boy!

What does this prius do to people!

 

I am replacing a 20-year-old Honda Accord EXI that only has 112,000 km on it. It has the sunroof, and all the other bells and whistles. I hope to sell it to some young couple without much money, as the car is in A-1 shape, has been babied, and I'd love to see someone who needs it get such a great bargain. Most cars in the price range I'm asking are practically beaters.

Gee, now I'm not only green, but saintly as well!

 

My wife & I purchased a 2004 Prius to replace one of our 2002 Prius'; simply to get the new version. Got a great price selling privately and spent just a few thousand to upgrade to a loaded '04. We still love both of them, with about 60,000 miles on each.

 

My new '08 Prius was replaces my '02 Acura RSX... a great car I had no problems with and really liked to drive, but I feel like I'm driving the car I was meant to drive. It's the perfect combination of a gadget car and a green car. I LOVE IT!!!

It I know it seems a little overblown, but heck, I'm an American and what kind of car I drive is important to me.

 

Technically, the Prius replaced a 1996 Honda Accord, which is a great car (sold it to my brother) but my wife with the long commute didn't drive it (the seat position hurt her knee and hip for long rides, also with it being a 5-speed, which she can drive, but meant seat position had to be different). So in a way it replaces the 2003 Subaru Forester that she was commuting in, which is now my daily commuting car (4 miles each way when I'm not biking).

 

Mercedes 300SD. I got tired of working on it. and I saved 100 bucks a month in fuel. not to mention the oil it was leaking.

 

Red 2005 Subaru Impreza Wrx/worked, Modded, And Tuned To Achieve 282 Horse...i Was Getting At Most 19-21 Mpg.

 

2003 (really 2002) Matrix 4WD

After 165,500 miles and five years, I replaced a very reliable Toyota Matrix 4WD with a 2008 Prius. Gas mileage wasn't great with the Matrix, and it was starting to hit me with expensive repairs.

I have a 100-mile daily commute, and it was costing me more than $80 per week on fuel -- plus I wanted to reduce my carbon footprint.

Replacement Vehicle

I replaced my old 1996 Nissan Quest for an '08 Prius. After buying all the parts to replace my CV joints, brakes, struts and shocks...I decided to just get rid of her after 163K. It was a hard decision, but I am glad I did it this time. No regrets.

 

Replaced a Scion xA

My "new" '04 Prius replaced an '06 Scion xA. I started to feel like the Scion wasn't safe enough for carting my two girls around in the back. At 35 years old, and having driven an 18 wheeler for a while, I'm done shifting gears.

And I'm a bit of a techie and the hybrid technology coupled with cool stuff like bluetooth, nav, homelink, and voice recognition makes this a great car for me and the girls. They think my "jellybean" is "awesome!"

 

My '08 Prius replaces my '02 Mini Cooper. She was a great little car, but I needed four doors and have not regretted the move to the Prius since Day 1.

 

Chevy S-10 Crew Cab 6 Cylinder 4.3 liter 4 wheel drive ......boo hoo!!

 

Hey, I miss my 99 BMW 323 5spd convertible What I do NOT miss is worrying something will break every time I drove it!
(But I LOVE my Prius!)

 

I had a '91 Camry that after an accident, was seized by the insurance company. I was getting 32 MPG with that manual transmission car and quite happy with its 183,000 miles.
