So last night I crashed my car, after I had it back from the body shop for hail damage. I only had it for a week!!! Lets say there are no words to describe how upset I was. This guy slammed on his brakes and I slammed on mine. the rest is history......

I'm waiting for the insurance to inspect it and let me know whats up.
Do you guys think it will be totaled? It has 12,000 miles on it. and the airbags didn't go off.
I honestly hope they'll total the car, I'm sure this it wont run the same ever again, especially since the crash pushed the radiator in and the inverter was pushed back also.

I certainly don't work in a body shop - but that doesn't look totaled to me.

I hope no one was hurt, and sorry to hear about the accident. Just a warning it can take a few days for injuries to show up after an accident, so take it easy just in case.

It is hard to tell if it will be totaled or not, but I did read another post where they mentioned their Prius was totaled after hitting a mailbox

After seeing the damage I'm suprised the airbags didn't deploy.

    Tell me about it!!!
I think it was because the other guy was braking hard and then I was braking and that just caused me to go under the other guys bumper. my bumper supports were still intact and his rearend wasn't even that bad.

    here is a pic.

    oye...

Hmm the coolant tank is on that side of the car which may add to the cost.

Sorry for your loss. Your car is practically new with only 12,000 miles on it. I'm not an insurance guy, but from the looks of it, I would be very surprised if they wrote it off as totaled. But I'll cross my fingers.

As much as it hurts to smash up a new car, if nobody was hurt you have much to be thankful for.
May things turn in your favor.

I agree with everyone....this is not a "total write off"....but I would guess that the initial estimate will probably be lower than it actually ends up. Make sure they check for frame damage!

Ouch, looks like it didn't make it through, though not for lack of trying.

I hope you get the outcome you want. Glad the safety systems did their job, if no one was hurt there was no need for the airbags to go off. Crumple zones, seatbelts and cab safety all worked for you. I imagine a similar accident without a seatbelt would have been pretty bad!

Yea tell me about it...my cousing in the back seat said that her belt didn't tighten( she hit the back of the driver seat) she is ok though.

whatever happens though I will be trading this car in for something else, I was thinking a corolla for now then the New Prius when it comes out. thanks guys for your input and concern for us.

    B) Just remember sheet metal can be repaired and or replaced and by the Grace of God it sounds like you came out unharmed.

If you are what avatar reflects, are you required to report this up the chain of command?

Signs of an impending total. Cracked windscreen, bent a pillars, bent rockers, misaligned doors, crumpled undercarriage.

If your wheels are still straight, which hey appear to be, then they wont total the car out. More than likely they will quote out a new fender, hood, headlight, under brackets, bumper and related components, radiator, and motor mount. Probably under $3500 damage there. I just had the bumper replaced and fender realigned on mine after striking a raccoon and thought it would be 1500 or more, was less than 800.

    I'm guessing double that. $7,000.

Is there a prize for the person that guesses closest without going over?
