My mica silver birch '08 (aka light green) is arriving 12/1/07, so I'll be interested in what you learn.
I thought it was already iPod compatible with that little plug in the center console, so have to find out why I'd buy the dice add on.

Here's a thread that pertains to your question re what to look for when you pick up the car:

    http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=23202

The Aux input on the center console allows you to plug in anything with a headphone outlet to play through the Audio. However, it is not "iPod compatible" in the sense that your music info will be on the display or that you can change the songs with the remote controls on the steering wheel. You will have to make those changes directly on the device.

    Enjoy!!

We picked up ours two evenings ago and I'm still excited. Spent part of today fooling around with various electronics settings.

The dealer was very good about pointing everything out but he wasn't real strong on the audio stuff so that's been a fun time discovering the system.

Call me crazy, though: I would love to NOT have a CD player, just a great integration system for my iPod. Who needs a CD player and all those discs cluttering up the interior when playing more than a thousand songs from the iPod is so much nicer?

update: my salesman called today and my black prius is on its way! he said its in the truck right now.

i did not have any discount on it.
is it possible to request a freebies like mud guard or tint?

Slight diversion of the discussion - the Black color looks soo good! But then I am biased with my Black Touring edition....

There are a lot of other people who share your sentiment. The DICE iPod controller was one of my first mods to my '07 Touring edition. In addition to the quantity of songs argument that you pose, there are 2 more fairly significant arguments for the DICE unit:

    1. The ability to see artist/title information on the Prius' main display. Having to check the iPod unit (if the Aux-In adapter is used) requires the car to be pulled over out of traffic, if you are going to be safe about checking the iPod unit.

    2. The steering wheel controls (and the Prius' main display touch screen) can be used to navigate the playlist(s) on the iPod. See safety comment in item 1. above for the relative merit of this feature.

There may be other reasons to go with the DICE solution, but the above are what motivated me to install the DICE iPod controller. Also, the DICE iPod controller will charge the iPod's battery; the Aux-In connector will not.

Black with the option package that was desired? Maybe not in the CT area.

Mudguards are a Canadian part so I doubt they'll stock them.

    Tint is pretty expensive.

I got my salesman to throw in a cargo carrier, but that was in 2005 when Prii were a lot harder to get.

If it doesn't have the cargo net, at least try to get them to throw that in. (and you should have the cargo cover and factory mats.)

The plot thickens.... Now you are talking a different animal; the Touring edition is in fact a very limited build (2007 models were supposedly limited to 5% of total Prius production). Price and availability (otherwise known as supply and demand) - if you can not afford to wait until more Black Touring edition #6s are available in December/January, then you pay the asking price of the one that is available now.
