How does dealer allocation work? The dealer nearest me only had 5 Prius on his lot and the salesman said (I find it hard to believe) that they wouldn't be getting any more Prius till next year. Seems like a pressure tactic. Northeast supply does seem a little thin.

i think this is true. im from CT. almost toyota dealership in hartford area dont have prius on the lot. some of them has, but very limited and they have a lower package.

i ordered black package #6 and it seems the delivery has been delayed.
hopefully mine will arrived tomorrow. it still in-transit.

Our very large dealership in Pittsburgh gets a fair amount of Priuses (Prii?) because it sells a lot. It's a vicious circle. This same dealership does not do a high volume in Mazda vehicles, so when we were looking for a particular car about a year ago, had to order through this huge Mazda place in Philadelphia.

You might call around (or look on the internet at inventory) to see if there's a higher-volume Toyota dealership that can order the car for you. For ours, we walked in one afternoon, told them what we wanted. They checked their incoming inventory and said one would be here in three weeks, and it was.

Ira toyota.com has 50 on their web site with VIN #'s at their various MA dealers. Didn't see any touring models though. Other MA dealers have some listed too.

I work near Atlantic Toyota in Lynn, MA (20min North of Boston) and I always see at least 7 prii in the lot at one time in all colors so Id say its worth looking into

It's kinda weird that some dealerships try to hide the priii and put
all the guzzlers out front, and some others put the priii prominently
    out front.

@david- thanks man. I cancelled my previous order here in CT because they delayed again for the 3rd time. I called acton and they do have metallic gray package#6 and to confirmed before going. They put on hold and i drove nearly 2hrs. It was very nice talking with them. They give me 1,620 discount and half the price of mudguards and all weather mats.

I am trying to determine the credibility of my salesman. I already bought my Silver #2 ( and love it). I was told that they wont be getting any more Prius in this year. I am wondering if it was just a pressure tactic. It is water under the bridge but if it was indeed a pressure tactic I wouldn't refer friends to him, even though I would get an $80 credit towards service.

If you're debating whether or not to trust a car salesman, you're wasting your time. They have NO credibility. I've received the same run-around about "low availability" because somebody wanted a bigger commission. It was BS, and you'd do yourself a favor to shop somewhere that they have enough inventory that they can't hide behind these tactics.

They'll still try to bone you, of course, but at least they won't be able to play that card.

We're at the dealership in Saco yesterday. They had a number of Priuses at the lot (w/ the packages we didn't want) and and promised our car to arrive this week.

Reality check!........Your right...and I know that. I just wanted to think otherwise and be able to, in good conscience, refer the salesman that sold me two vehicles in the past month, to my friends. Even for $80 bucks I just can't do it. Unless I tell them up front, there all scum and we can split the $80.

@lefat - yes, you remember that i posted a thread regarding "08 black prius" damn. i am really dissapointed on what happened. the salesman keep telling me that the black prius is on transit blah blah blah.. and the msrp is 27+++

now i got the metallic gray package #6 for 26+++
its a matter of paperwork now, its too late sunday afternoon.

maybe 2 more sleepless nights :D
