    Hey guys,

I've got an 06 Blue, package 8, leather, NAV, keyless entry, bluetooth, HOV sticker equipped, 27,000 mile Prius that I want to sell because I have no need for the HOV sticker. It's been kept in excellent condition; I leather treat the seats, have the all-weather floor mats, wash it regularly, use synthetic for all the oil changes, change out both air filters, and rotate the tires regularly (it's useful to have a Toyota mechanic as your roommate). I've also got Excel records of everywhere the car has been, the mileage, and even where it was filled up (I'm hopelessly OCD).

I love the car, but it doesn't make sense to keep it because I don't commute on any carpool lane equipped freeways. If I can put the premium the HOV stickers get towards another Prius I'd be happy. So if anyone is interested just let me know. I can get pictures and whatever else you may need.

    Thanks,

    Brandon

I'm not really sure what a fair price for this car is. Anybody here know what would be reasonable?

Would you be interested in a trade, perhaps? I have a 2002 Audi A4 and I'm looking to purchase a Prius...

you have a fully loaded prius... so you're pretty much trying to get more than the cost of a new car? if that's the case you're selling it at 30k.. cause a fully loaded prius OTD will cost you around that much.. 27,000 miles seems like a very young healthy engine.

Thanks for the offer Yunebug, but I want to get another Prius.

As far as the price is concerned... Junebug2007 do you think $30k is reasonable? Anyone else here think that's reasonable for a fully loaded Prius with HOV stickers?

I would think you would be a little nutty to pay that for a used one with 27k on it, however... You are in LA. It's worth what someone is willing to pay I suppose and your chance of getting top dollar is much better there than most places. Give it a shot.

Well... bluebook is around $22k (excellent condition with all the bells and whistles), plus around $4k for the stickers (seems like thats the going rate) - would you consider $26k? I can come down to LA to get it...

I had lots of interest in my 06 at 26K, without nav or leather. Only 16K miles though. Those of us lucky enough to get one of the 85K stickers do have an edge I guess.

I've just started shopping for a used Prius with low miles and HOV stickers, i'm in the LA area, searching mainly Craig's list. What i've seen so far is that there is a fairly wide range of asking prices. What people are getting, i'm not sure. But i am seeing pretty well stocked (with options) 2006 and 2007 models priced around $20,000 give or take $2000. some of those are sold when i contact the sellers, others are still available I'm also seeing some of that description (leather, GPS) for much more, $24,000 and more. There are several on eBay for less, $17,000 or so with lots of features (but no HOV) that have very low miles--but are salvage titles. This is what i've found just in the past week or so.

i purchased my 06, package 7, 25K miles, HOV stickers, SALVAGED TITLE Prius in Mar 08 for $20K.

probably would have been $16K w/out HOV stickers, huh?

upon purchase, i received (and now have) pictures of the minimal rear end damage (occurred @ 6K miles) that resulted in the salvage designation (i can't believe the number of vehicles that are "totaled out" from what appears to me as minimal damage).

have had absolutely no probs thus far, car runs great with all the options (sans leather) and dealer honored all warranty until 36K miles.

    has 42K on clock today.

don't know what it's worth right now due to $1.60/gallon gas.

I think the low gas prices, plus slow economy, have made it a buyers market. I am seeing salvage title priuses with highest packages/leather/gps for $15,000, there's one on Craig's list or Auto Traders every few days. Don't know what the damage is on those though. They invariably have very low miles.

I am still shopping, and have had my offer of $20,000 accepted by two sellers for an 06 and 07 both with leather/navi/etc, the 06 has 39K miles, the 07 has 28K. Both have HOV stickers, which is essential for me. After tax, i'm well over $20K and that's really a stretch for me, i'd love to buy one of these salvage title cars, but i have read or been told several times that the warranty is void with a salvage title, and the other concern is all the electronics/computerized stuff on the Prius that could be knocked loose by impact.

Still, i look longingly at some of these salvaged cars. I'm interested in your report of having the warranty honored. I would love to save several thousand dollars--i imagine there are salvaged cars and there are salvaged cars, some badly damaged, some minimal like yours, and it must've been reassuring to see the photos. I called a seller on one with a salvage title the other day and he said the hood, front bumper and left fender had been replaced. That sounds pretty bad. I called one of the Toyota agencies about having the car checked out and the guy said emphatically that the warranty was voided with a salvage title. He also said he would charge $200 to check the car out!!! That's ridiculous. So i don't know how credible he was, but because of hearing these things, i'm staying away from the salvage titles, despite the chance to save $5000 or so.
