Is there a way to do rpm without adding an external rpm gauge?

I am no expert to posting on here, but I wonder if it would be helpful to separate these hacks/easter eggs for each model year (or models changes apparently '01-'03 are the same, '04-05 are the same)?

Just a thought!

Are you volunteering to pick them out and organize them?
I'm glad to move the posts if you make me a list, just the post numbers that need to be moved would be fine.
1)All years
2)All 1st generation
3)All 2nd generation
4) '04-'05 only
5) '06-'08 only
?6)?

Would you suggest that I organize them by post number? I can try to do this (some rainy day!), but since I have an '05, I really haven't kept up with the other years.

I will consider it a learning experience.

I'm getting no success with this sequence -- 07 pkg #7. Any thoughts?

Also, does anyone know if LockPick will work with the new upgraded DVD? That might be the easier solution...

WGARY,

That hack does not work on 06 and up models. The new Nav disk does remove the need to push the "I agree" button. It was confirmed in another thread.

Hey Brent - I have a 2008 #6. I cannot get the "disable nav lock out" procedure to work. Nothing happens after I do the 4 taps. Any recommendations????????

Yes, trade it in for a 2004 or 2005 model.

Seriously, though, that override procedure only works in the 04 and 05 models.

Navigation override device

I purchased the 100 buck module from www.coastaletech.com. Really easy to insert, no tools, just unplug and plug. Works well enough and I found it worth the price. The one I got automatically takes care of the "I Agree" button. To use the navigation button while driving, you have to touch the upper left corner WHILE you are moving and the buttons appear ghosted. Once you touch the upper left corner, all the buttons come back to life.

One down side is when you are in stop and go traffic. If you are in the middle of "navigating" while you are moving, then come to a stop, and restart again, it may or may not let you continue to use the POI and address entry until you start over from the begining.

All in all I am satisfied and some of my friends are jealous, so that's good enough for me! LOL

speed sense overide

Thanks for all the help on this forum. My beeping has stopped, and I can use nav and phone while driving. One question. In the permanent fixes for the speed sense bypass, everyone puts a switch in. Is this necessary? I have just left the wires pulled out of the harness. Is there something bad I should know about?

Thanks, Marshall

Thought I'd give the Nav lockout override described in a number of posts here.... they all say to: press the MENU hard switch bezel button, then the Voice icon. But, no "Voice" icon appears on mine after pressing the MENU switch. MY2005. Any ideas?

I haven't seen this anywhere, and I don't know if it is possible:

Can one program the electrochromic rearview mirror to STAY OFF. I can turn it off every time I start the car, but I would much prefer the default to be that it is off, and then I can turn it on in the rare circumstance I want it on.

Thanks.

You can check out

LOCKPICK 3

They now have the lockpick for the newer model prius owners. You can bypass a lot of nav functions, use the blue tooth and even watch DVD's with your IPOD

does anyone know if the rear beep hack works on the 08? and if I do it, can it be redone? I'm planning on trading this car in , probably in around 3 yrs. and don't know if it will affect resale value if it doesn't beep in reverse.
thanks!

I just tried it on my 08 and it works. You can toggle the beeps off and on so you can reverse this.

My question is whether the dealer is going to have a problem with my having disabled the back-up beeps. Will this change effect the warranty?

These changes are easily reversed, so shouldn't be an issue at all...
