    Sirius radio installation for 2004

Has anyone had any experience installing the Sirius Radio offered by Metro or Prius Chat in a 2004 Prius?

I'm wondering the same thing. Has anyone posted pics of their install?

I am reviving an old thread.

My Factory Interactive Sirius Satellite radio kit has been fine for almost 4 years now, in a 2006 Prius. But then yesterday the Satellite screen said it can't acquire a signal. It leaves me to believe that the Satellite box itself is fine, but that something is wrong from that box to the antenna. So I am going to have to remove the rear seat and get to the Satellite box that is near the left wheel well. Then I will trace the antenna wire back. I'm just hoping the problem isn't inside the Satellite box, as that's the most expensive part.

Any suggestions? Anyone else have a similar issue with this kit?

More likely it's the cable from the unit to the radio. Mine was stashed under the glovebox, bet yours is too.

I installed the unit, but I don't think the issue are the wires from the Sirius unit (which is above the left wheel well) to the radio unit. If it were I would think the Satellite screen wouldn't come up at all. The screen says there is no signal acquired.

UPDATE: My issued turned out to be the antenna as I suspected. I connected an antenna from a portable Satellite radio unit and the Prius Sirius radio now works fine. Looking over the defective antenna I can't find anything wrong with the cable or antenna itself, so I'm not sure why it failed. Interestingly, with the antenna unplugged from the Factory Interactive Sirius box the display on my Prius radio says "Antenna". Telling me an antenna needs to be plugged in. This is good trouble shooting info, should the antenna ever come unplugged.

Also, I am not sure Factory Interactive is still in business. I have emailed them but have not heard back from them, even though their web site is still up.

Now off to buy a permanent replacement Satellite antenna. Any suggestions?
