Got a call from the dealer this morning and our new Prius is here. (Kalamazoo, MI) We pick it up at 3:00pm today. Just two days short of a 3 1/2 month wait. This is more exciting than Christmas morning!

Great news! Congratulations and welcome to the ownership of the best car ever made.

Before you post the pictures, make certain you update your profile to let us know the model year and package information.

Congratulation on the early Christmas gift. I echo the sentiments of my forebears when they say, "PICTURES PLZ!" ;-)

When you pick up the car take a copy of the pick up checklist:
    http://www.vfaq.net/docs/pickup_checklist.html
It was written for the 2004 but most (all?) of the differences between an '04 and an '08 are invisible with respect to the checklist.

Spend a half-hour sitting in the car on the dealer’s lot reading the relevant sections of the owner's manual. Note the break-in period recommendations.

Follow the Scheduled Maintenance Guide. More service is not required and will cost you money. Less can damage the car.

Remember that when the last pip on the gas gauge starts to flash, buy gas immediately. Because of the fuel tank internal bladder you cannot accurately estimate how much gas ought to remain based on how much you put in at the last fill and how far you've driven since then.

Note that no more than 3.5 US quarts of oil are required at an oil change. 3 quarts is plenty and is very convenient if you provide your own oil. 3.9 quarts is too much; the owner's manual and the shop manual are both misleading on this point.
