There seems to be a problem with the "log-in" process. I get an error page and am not logged in until I went to post this message; then I was logged in.

    Thanks and Happy Holidays!

We have purchased a 2008 Prius, package 2, silver pine and just love the car! I have read about the seats not being comfortable and not enough leg room in the front. I don't under stand this as we took a 1400 mile trip right after we bought the car and none of the above is true.

However, I do have some questions about the consumption screen. How is the avg MPG actually calculated? Does the system sample milage & gas consumption over some time interval or is it done some other way? Also, just to the right of the Avg MPG is a milage number that changes as you drive the car but it resets its self automatacally. What is this mileage used for & can the reset point be changed?

Thanks for putting this site together as it is a gold mine of information to new owners.

    Phil

I have two problems with the new format.

First, I can't access Fred's House of Politics. I get a message that I do not have permission.

Second, I can't use the search feature. I either get a message that the image verification is not correct, or I get a message that says that the search term is under the minimum 3 words.

    Greetings and happy new year!
Just purchased 2008 Prius and am in the first weeks of honeymoon time. Looking to catchup on forum for newbies and was unable to make the link: http://priuschat.com/index.php?autocom=art...rticle&id=3 connect with Dr. Fusco's article on break in time and driving techniques. At one point in early December 07 link was "repaired" but I can't access at this time. Please advise.

    Thanks and happy trails,
    tom

Your own new posts won't show up as new since the system assumes you know/saw what you posted....essentially they're marked as read once you post it.

I have found the easiest way for me is: #1 - check remember me when signing on, and #2 just click "Quick Links, then today's posts. Posts will be in order from newest to oldest all the way back until your last login time. The icons on the left of the screen will have arrows on the envelope of the posts you have posted to. I don't know all the ins and outs of how the forum works which is why I wish there were a "how-to" section to learn the ropes.

Every time I sign in, a thread dealing with (old) mudflap postings is displayed. Is there some way to have something else dispay upon signon?

    Thank you.

What perks do you get owning a prius?

I would like to know if you get to go on toll roads for free, maybe free parking in town and/or business. Please tell me where you live, I am in Denver Colorado.

A question about the "Thread Display Mode".
The General Usage Forum indicates that there are four thread display modes.
When I go to my "Edit Options" page the drop-down box for "Thread Display Options" has only two choices:
    Linear - Oldest First and
    Linear - Newest First
Are the other two options available? ie:
    Threaded Mode  and
    Hybrid Mode
I'm not sure if I would prefer either of these options but I'd like to try them out.

I haven't set that part of the site up, yet. It'll be back soon.

Will the old home page return? I find myself using PC alot less now b/c the old home page format is gone.

Before Christmas I noticed that my passenger (02) carpeting was soaked. Really heavy rains up here. I blotted it up with towels when I got home. The next morning I backed the car out and the area was awash! Blotted it up again and left a big towel in place. Drove about 7 miles, parked and left it for an hour. Started it, made a sharp U turn and drove a block when the ding! the warning panel came on so I headed to my mechanic. In about 10 gentle uphill blocks the power when from normal to 0. Turned it off for about a minute, turned it on again to full power but still the warning panel. My mechanic said the cam shaft sensor had been wet. It;s been running fine since then except sometimes the warning panel comes on. (I think after it has been sitting in the garage with the wet floor and the humidity is high). Took it to the dealer as my mechanic said to. Their check in guy said "It was difficult to diagnose and don't worry about it." Seems like the dealer should have done something. Any advice or info? Avoiding puddles is not an option here.

Wanted to post a new issue for me. I have the Forums page bookmarked, and with cookies, would always be automatically signed in. Now, I am never automatically signed in, and when I sign in, it gives me the nice "Please wait and you will be redirected" message. Then, the Forum page pops up without my having been signed in. If I go to the home page, I am automatically signed in, no problem. Clicking the link to return to the forums, I'm then signed in.

This started yesterday, I believe (1/11).

    Thanks,
    DM
