I have been searching through all the molding threads to find any mods, or pics of mods, where wheel wells have been fitted with moldings to protect from door dings.

Has anyone done such a mod?

I was only able to find this:
    http://www.customautotrim.com/products/moldings/wheelwell.htm

but I was not sure how they would fit on or what size to use or if they would even be of any help.

I havn't noticed any here or on cars. You can purchase the flexable ones at most auto body suppliers, in black or chrome in 25 foot rolls.

Mine came dealer installed as part if a $500 dealer added value (profit) package that also included pin stripes and black door edge guards. I like the look, and they may actually do some good (not the pin stripes). I had some freeway junk damage and had some repaint done and the body shop replaced some of the moldings. Check with any body shop unless you are really into DIY.
    Here's mine:

I have edge mouldings around the wheel openings similar to what subarutoo has. My dealer sells Toyota and Honda, and its been installed on previous vehicles I bought but wasn't on the Prius. I asked about it and they told me what days the installer visits and that I could deal directly with him. I think it was a 3-M trim-line product and cost me $30 to have the four wheel openings done. You might ask your dealer if they have a similar vender that does work for them. I know this same installer also does their pinstripping, etc.

Thanks for the replies. This is exactly what I was looking for. I have already ordered the color-matched door side moldings, but I wanted to cover as much of the side as possible. Many parked car doors seem to catch the wheel wells.

Subaratoo, are your well molding just glued to the edge of the wheel well?

The moldings on my fender openings are held on by some kind of pressure sensitive adhesive strip - probably 3M. The door moldings are just pressed on to the edge and held by friction.

If you purchase a roll to install yourself, make sure its warm 65 or better facing the sun and you wipe the area with 100 percent mineral spirits. having a hair dryer to warm the area is a plus.
