    ORIGINAL POST>>>>

I recently purchased a 2008 prius#2. I already put about 1500 miles and its been about three weeks. The dealer was supposed to install an autodimming mirror with homelink in the car. I made it known that this was an important accessory for me. I do alot of night driving and with all those blinding HID lights out there, its nolonger an accessory but a neccesity. Now the dealer told me they donot have that as an accesory anymore as of the 2006 model. How can that be, since i've seen several Prii on the lot with them. The dealer said they will try to get a 2006 autodimming rearview and install it in my 2008..... if it is compatable. If not they told me they will refund the difference......BUT I'm not sure I want a 2006 part on my 2008. I'm not even sure if it will be new. Does anyone know if I can return my prius and exchange it for one with autodimming from the lot. They are on Package #3 and will pay for the upgrade. Like I said...,IT is very important to be. Secondly are there any differences in the autodimming rearview mirrors from these years in case they try to pull a fast one on me. I know I might look as picky and trivial, but its like going back to manual windows after having power windows for over a decade. I bought the car in New Jersey, and i could use some help!!!!!!!!

    FINAL RESULT UPDATE>>>>>

OK. Here's what the end result is. The dealer in the end swaped my superwhite #2 with 2100miles and no autodimming mirror with a brand new silver #3 with my beloved mirror. They gave me FULL CREDIT for the superwhite towards the purchase of my new #3. All i had to do is pay forthe difference in prices. They even chucked in a free appearance package they normally sell for $500, which includes the door gaurds, and a free portable navi system for the hassle of making wait about a month to resolve the issue. I'm not sure which navi it is but they ordered it for me. In the end they were very fair with me, and my salesman was very helpful with resolving the issue. Hope this helps anyone who encountered a similar problem.

    Boy, did you get lucky.

Sounds like you had a great dealer.

Why don't you post dealer and salesman in case others in area are looking for a car?

Yes! I would like the dealer and salesman name as well, because I'm from Long Island to.

    Thanks - Marvin

Yes, by all means lets give the honest dealers all the publicity we can.
Considering the number of PC members we have now our recommendations and references must be something to be reckoned with.
While I'm up here in the northwest of North America I have relatives and friends all over the continent and elsewhere. I have frequently been asked questions about where they should deal for purchasing a Prius.
Thanks for coming back to us with your results.
    Gary :)

I know I lucked out with the deal. My salesman's name was George Romero from Toyota Autoland in Springfield, New Jersey. They also sell jeeps and chryslers. Out of all the times I bought cars, this is the first time i actually feel like i got a good shake. If in the area, check them out.

If you go, make sure you tell them you read a favorable report on Priuschat.

I make it a point to let businesses know I'm giving them business because I've read favorable reports on the internet. I think they should know how powerful the internet is.

And that it swings both ways.

You will pay for this in a future life. Think of all the good karma you must have used up.

Oh, Tom, that is a croppy thing to say. She gave the Karma right back when she posted her results on the internet. Everyone is happy in this situation. The dealer will have no trouble selling her slightly used Prius for more than invoice.

Im just glad everyone is happy.

Glad it worked out for you. I personally did not see the big deal of the autodimming mirror before I got it, but now I love love love it. It is far superior in reducing headlight glare.

Just curious, why did you choose a dealer in NJ instead of closer to home on LI?

I didn't fully appreciate the auto-dimming mirror until some moron decided to turn his brights on right behind me. My guess is he wanted me to speed in a frequently-patrolled 30mph zone near where I live.
