Yeah we just got our Prius yesterday. Whoo hoo.

We were wondering if anyone knew where we could get rubber floor mats for the front and back seating areas?

Also suggetions for a trunk liner?

Those of you with children know why I am asking about this :)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Heck, you might as well vinyl coat the backs of the front seats, the entire back seat and floor areas!! My kids WON'T keep their feet off the backs of the front seats. I finally had to buy some Seat Back Organizer from Lillian Vernon to keep them from getting footprints on the seats. They're kinda nice since they're personalized and cost only $10 each. They also sell a "Pet" Seat Protector that's worth a look if your kids are really messy.

As far as the rubber floor mats that you originally asked about there are lots of options.

I am a cheapskate and bought some generic deep rutted tan rubber floor mats from Wal-mart for something like $20 for the full set of 4. They're not perfectly fitted, but very much close enough. They didn't slip around, didn't get in the way. The grooves were very deep and held all the slush and dirt I could get in there last winter.

Official Toyota Floor Mats Will set you back close to $100, but are cut to fit exactly and people who have them seem to like them a lot.

This link was posted yesterday on another thread. You will have to wait a bit according to the link but are charging only $65 plus s/h charges. And they are toyota parts. Rubber Floor Mats.

Then there are the ExactMats posted elsewhere as well.

Personally, I would prefer the former as they are set up to catch dirt as opposed to shunting it to the edges. I am hoping that Danny would consider setting up a group buy if there is enough interest in the rubber mats. HINT... HINT...

Thanks for the promotion. I am offering free shipping because I had allot of folks order mats before I found out from Toyota that they were not available until January.

As for the group buy... I do not mind offering extra discounts on top of my already good prices :) Do keep in mind that unlike allot of suppliers, Toyota does not change there pricing structure for me no matter how much I spend. You do have my word that when the mats do come available that I will look at lowering the price further.

You might be interested in making your own mats. I did this for my last vehicle. It kept all the mud etc off the floor and were very customized.

Basically I went to the office supply store and bought the floor runner. It's similar to the material that is used for rolling chair mats but more flexible. It will not really move around once set which is good for people who figet alot and tend to push the floor mats around. Then I took some newspaper and drew out the exact pattern which for my vehicle went past where the factory mats ended as there was way more area exposed that needed protection.

Then I just taped the newspaper to the runner and cut it with scissors. I was able to outfit four cars this way for rather cheap $ and maybe like 1 hour time.

Costco sells rubber floor mats [ a set of four] in gray for $19.95 and a large mat, in either green or gray, that covers the entire rear of car with the seats down for $15.95. Both the floor mats and the rear mat fit as if they were custom designed for the car.

I installed the genuine all weather mats advertised by Toyota. I bought from a canadian dealer and they took about 2 weeks to arrive. Although they only come in black, they fit beautifully and complement the interior black trim even though I have the tan cloth interior. Also, they don't slide at all with the holes for the hold down hooks.

I replaced the tan Costco mats with the genuine toyota mats. I found that the Costco mats are good protector and are color match, but they don't fit as well and tend to slide a little under use. BTW, Costco has a black trunk liner for around $50 which I bought to protect my investment and now matches the floor mats.

what about a vinyl type cover that covers the entire floor when both back seats are folded? it would have to be fairly flexible because i do not want it taking up a lot of space (actually as little as possible would be ideal)

the ultimate would be one that is attached at the spare tire cover door and the back of the seats (or can be quickly attached in the case of only putting down one back seat)

right now i am using on of those blue vinyl tarps for trips with my dog (big dirty dog since he is outside nearly all the time and it rains too much here.) and its a major pain in the backside to keep in place. also loose corners just seem to cry out "chew on me" for some reason.

a mat that lies flat would be perfect.

    anything like that available?

There is a mat that you can order from Toyota Japan that covers the back of the seats where the seats can be up or folded down. I want to say it's $150 and comes in 2 colors.

I have the $20 Costco rubber floor mats. They look fine and can hold almost a quart of water, which is about right this time of year in Seattle. However, I do need to do something about the seat backs because of my 4 year old.

I'd be interested in a group buy if Danny is listening. ;)

I told our three year old he wasn't aloud to put his feet on the back of the car seats because his shoes would get the seats all dirty. He wanted to take his shoes off in the car for some reason and I said sure and helped him. After his shoes were off he looked at his socks and said, 'hey my socks are clean!' which struck me just a little odd and I said 'yes they are." He proceeded to ask if he could put his feet on the seats then since the socks were clean. Outfoxed by a three year old!!

I was interested in the mat you are talking about, but the only way I could figure out to order it was through www.japanparts.com. With the shipping, it would have been around $400. Do you have a better place to order it from?

Another thread mentioned that Carson Toyota sold aftermarket parts from Japan. This item is listed as $209 though not $150 before shipping. Here is a link to that site:
