I'm getting a noise around my driver side mirror. Does anyone get this annoying noise at mid to high speeds?

It may be caused by a missing screw under the mirror housing. If you see a hole there, it is probably the culprit. Just put a small piece of Scotch tape over it to see if it eliminates the noise.

i have a 2008,and also have the same problem.. luckily this site exists and yes, thats the problem.. under the mirror you will see some screwholes with a thin plastic cover over them, some of mine are perforated and makes the wind noise at high speeds. just patch them up.

I get some wind noise starting around 100 kmh. I usually just turn up the stereo, but the tape sounds like such a simple fix, I'll try it.
Could it be the wind deflectors?

the weird thing is that ... it just started happening 100 miles ago... it's annoying and assuming everything is symmetric..why isn't it happening on the other side.

Mind did the same thing, coincidentally right after I had taken it through an automatic car wash. Several other posters have experienced this as well.

Did you just wash your car recently?

Are the screw holes indeed uncovered? If so apply clear tape.

We have a 2006 and 2007 Prius. The 2007 has had wind noise on the drivers side. Lately the 2006 now had whistling wind noise on the drivers side. I have felt that the window seals are the cause. Well today we took the 2006 into the dealer and they said the gasket on the driver's side mirror was worn, so they replaced it under warranty. Surprisingly, no more whistling sounds. I am not exactly sure what they did, as I can't tell by looking at the mirror on the outside of it and I wasn't there to ask them. We shall see if this gets rid of all the wind noise as well. If so I get the 2007 taken care of then.

Interestingly though, the 2006 doesn't have clear tape covering the bottom mirror screw holes, while the 2007 does.

Can anyone post a photo of the tape? My 2004 doesn't have anything covering the holes and I'd like to try to replicate it. Thanks in advance.

The tape over the bottom of the mirrors is clear cut in a circle to cover the screw hole.

So are there 3 pieces of tape on each mirror, one for each screw hole?
