Is there a decibel rating on your horns? Mine are 115db and they hurt.

Could the bike horns be easily made compatible with the prius..? Because thatd prob be a lot easier than installing an air tank/compressor/horns and air lines throughout the car..I want insanely loud horns. Horns that make people fall over when walking in front of me. But I dont want a nasty install (i.e. on the roof) or something ridiculous like that. What kind of suggestions do you guys have for horns DEFINITELY above 130db. Pref much more

I wanted to put train horns on my Prius but the cop next door to me told me when I'm stopped by the cops, don't use his name. I decided against putting the train horns on.

Those are not motorcycle horns, they are technically car horns that run off 12 V. I have to be honest I haven't really gotten under the hood in mine yet so I don't know where there is that "perfect" sport for it, however I would assume you could use the current 12V horn to set off a relay which would then power the louder 12V horn.

If it will work on a motorcycle that has very little power in comparison to a vehicle I couldn't image the Prius couldn't handle the power. Again that is just assumptions based off non Prius knowledge.

Like I said, I would definitely use a relay for it though.

Who cares if you made a mistake choosing these horns. It is not like you can't reverse the installation. That is the beauty of modding the car with simple bolt ons. If you are not happy with your horns after installing them, get another set until you are happy. :)

Make sure you fill us in on the install.

Definitely. My other cars an Evo which is insane, Im constantly modding that thing.. And its catless...So it probably cancels out any good like 100 prius' do LOL.

I doubt these horns will be a mistake. They'll be here next wednesday, then Ill be doing the install either next weekend or within a week of then.

They're probably illegal, but what the heck - you only go around once. Reminds me of the time I mounted a pair of freon powered boat horns on my bicycle! :horn:

Speaking of loud horns, here are a bunch of pranksters who mounted a train horn to their car. Watch them scare the crap out of people.

I wasn't thrilled with the stock location of the horns so I relocated mine behind the lower grill.

Nice pics, suggest you angle the horns straight down to minimize debris and water ingestion. :)

How was the wiring? Pretty straight forward?

I actually readjusted the horns and pointed them straight out the grill.

The horns come with a weather shield that attaches to the front of the horns. The shield blocks water or debris from getting into the horns. I removed them at first, but then I put them back on after finalizing the angle.

The wiring is easy if you know how to strip and crimp. You will need to make a couple of extension wires if you plan on mounting them where I mounted them. You will need to make (2) 1 foot long extension leads, Male on one end, Female on the other. The male plugs into the stock connector, the female goes to the (+) terminal of the horn. The (-) terminal gets grounded (supplied wires) to any nonpainted metal surface. I used split loom tubing to clean things up a bit. I just had some laying around.

Here is what the horn looks like with the weather shield installed.

Yea, the train horns are 19" long, and the compressor that runs THEM is no small pea. There goes any spare room you thought you had. I wouldn't mind having 'em or rare occasions, but not for $600.
