Hi everyone! I'm Andie and I'm shopping for my first Prius. I'm sooo intrigued by this blue that it seems nobody in the northeast has, and I'm thinking about ordering it sight unseen.

I've been getting conflicting info from dealers regarding what is available. First I heard the color is only available in touring, and that touring only comes in a package 3 for this region. Others tell me I can get a package 6 in any color.

I'm looking for a fully loaded, leather seats, nav package.....can I get what I want?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Good question! I'm in a similar situation. If I go to the Toyota web site and enter my ZIP code, I can only build a Touring Prius up to package 5, can't get leather. Not only that, but I can't select Spectra Blue as a color. Even if I choose non-touring I cannot select Spectra Blue.

Sooo, I called the dealer and told them I wanted a Touring Prius, Package 6 in Spectra Blue. Told them that I didn't want anything else, and if they couldn't get that one, I'd keep my Forester rather than trade for the Prius. I also told them it didn't matter if it took 6 weeks or 6 months. They have "preferenced" the one I want, which essentially means they've requested it from Toyota. Whether or when they get it is another question. Spectra Blue is the hardest color to get, Package 6 is the rarest package, and Touring is the most rare trim line. At least it is here in the Northeast.

I do know that a dealer would MUCH prefer to sell you something on their lot, or something they can get from another dealer rather than "order" one. So you'll get many who say you can't get it due to that reason alone.

You can also try to buy from a dealer in the mid-west, fly out and drive it back. That's an option I've considered. Spectra Blue/Touring/Pkg 6 seems to be more prevalent out there.

Like you, I ordered Spectra Blue (and touring) sight unseen...well, except for all of the picture posted here on PriusChat. I'll post notes in the "Track ordering" section if/when I get an update on the status of my "order."

Wow, thanks for the quick response! Divots, I will check out the used blue one, thanks for the info. And you're in CT, too?

Jack, did they tell you how long you would be waiting? I am also thinking I want the touring, since the price difference is not that big. Why would people not want all the bells and whistles with the touring? It just doesn't make sense that it's so hard to get.

And as for the blue.....I see all the same colors on the road here, and it just makes me want the blue more! A few delaers are showing the blue in their inventory, but none actually have one. Go figure. I might be posting with you in the track ordering after this week.

I just don't want to wait! WAH!!!!

I'm not quite sure I get the logic behind it either. At first I thought maybe it's too cold in the Northeast for non-heated leather seats. But then why is the non-touring available with Pkg 6 in my ZIP? And it's not like it's WARM in all of the mid-west where they are available.

The salesman did say that they "might have it as soon as the end of March" but I laughed and told him I wasn't holding my breath. If that optimistic prediction turns out to be true, it would be 4 weeks. It depends on a lot of things though, like the size of the dealership and their sales numbers. I'm sure Toyota pays closer attention to the larger volume dealers. I'm dealing with Romano Toyota in Syracuse. They're not tiny, but I can't imagine they're in the top 50 nation wide.

If they do get it allocated I'll get a phone call from my salesperson, as they'll then want a deposit. At that point I'll have a pretty close date as to when they'll be receiving it.

So we'll see! Let us know if you find one.

I just got mine last week. It took 3 months to get. Very hard color to find. I'm in Texas and the dealer had to trade with another in Mississippi. If you are at a high volume dealer, they can check everybody's allotment for the month. My dealer found 9 in the Texas and the surrounding states. She called every single one and finally found one to trade. But they are a high volume dealer. Some just are willing to work that hard for one. You can also order one and put a check down.

Decisions, decisions....hubby just called and said a magnetic gray was available at a dealer in MA and can get in 10 days.

Drspazz, was it worth the wait? My only concern is I want to trade in my car before it hits 100k, and I'm at 97k now. I'm afraid of waiting to long and blowing whatever money i would've gotten on it.

    UGH!

The Spectra Blue is fantastic, just shows dirt easily. I would hold off if you can for that color, but as others have suggested, you may have to go outside of your area to find one. There are several dealers in the SE that will trade with other dealers, so you might try that route as well.

STOP POSTING PICTURES OF IT!!!!! Right now I can wait a few months. If you keep posting pictures I might get impatient and pay too much!! :)

I just realized from your sig that you are a two Prius family. Not only that, buy one is Salsa Red, the other Spectra Blue...IF I ever get my Spectra Blue, we'll also be a two Prius family also, the only diff is our second one will be BARCELONA Red. You guys must have good taste as well. ;-)

I just got mine about 3 weeks ago, a Package2 in Spectra Blue Mica, in NJ at Lawrence Toyota. I scoured all of the inventories online in NJ and found only this one in that color and trim level, very hard to find.
I seem to remember seeing one or two others in the higher trim levels with that color, but I was not paying attention. I would suggest you do the same thing.
Good luck and you will enjoy it when you get it.

Had no idea that Spectra blue was so hard to find --

On Jan. 12, I drove '95 Wrangler into Turnersville Toyota, "thinking about" a Prius; drove out 4 hours later in a new Spectra from dealer's lot.

    Go figure. ;)

I had a hard time finding my Spectra Blue w/pkg 3. I didn't try to special order, but couldn't find one anywhere in August/Sept., waited a few months and still had to check with several dealerships to find one. I haven't seen any others this color on the road.

Ha! my apologies on the pic posting. I did not want to cause any anxiety! Those are our two favorite colors that they have for the Prius.

Ok so Pandora gets my attention, but then Wiz says he doesn't want to see one. Hmmm, here's a pic of my 2004 anyway. The colour has been around for a while you see, and I'm still not tired of looking at it.

I just officially put in an order for a Spectra Blue Mica package 2 after almost 2 weeks of the dealer (in Southeastern PA) trying to locate one in package 2, 3 or 5 anywhere within 100 miles. I'm told ordering one takes 6-8 weeks, but if you time it just right and there's going to be an--I think the word was "allocation"?--then it takes about 3 weeks. Anyway, just yesterday I saw my first Spectra Blue Mica. It seemed to be broken down on the side of the highway (oh dear, not a bad omen I hope.) Or maybe the driver was just stopping to make a phone call or read his/her map or something. Anyway, it was really beautiful, as are the pictures in this thread. So I guess I don't mind the wait.

I folded and couldn't stand the wait, the magnetic gray is in....saw it last nite. I'm hoping to pick it up tonite or tomorrow. They're putting the XM radio in.

I DO love the blue, even though I've never seen it......but I DID sit in my mag gray with gray leather last nite, and have to say I LOVE IT!

I guess I'll be glad I don't see the blue here in CT, so I won't feel bad when I see it knowing I passed it up!

I'm being severely tested by a local dealer. They have a Spectra Blue Mica Pkg 6 IN STOCK. Problem is, I ordered the Touring version from another dealer. I will resist, I will resist. Anyone want to buy it so I won't be tempted any longer???
