OK. First of all, Houston dealers eat their own. After 4 dealers, I found Beth Elliot, at Fred Haas Toyota. She is an Internet Manager. I put money down on another Pruis at Tejas and waited for 3 months. I called Beth, after a listing thru Edmunds.com, and she found my car in 4 days. Called 9 different dealers to arrange a swap. 2008 Blue Touring with Package #5 with leather upgrade. She won't let u down. Of course, I read her the riot act prior to giving her the OK to find the car. But she found it, at list price.

I bought my Prius at Fort Bend Toyota. They have been easy to work with, good with the maintenance checks, and you should be able to buy without paying a premium.

I am in West Texas, and this is what worked for me. Start clicking on all the free price quote that are all over the internet. Filter out the dealers who only want to deal with MSRP but don't burn any bridges. Only deal with internet sales managers who can give you a price below MSRP. My best results were with the internet sales managers in smaller towns. I actually found one a who had an loaded prius on his allocation, and he was selling it at 500 over invoice. Two other dealers only wanted to go 500 below MSRP. I didn't even rule out selecting dealers or cities which were serviced by Southwest Airlines, but I never had to resort to this tactic.

Don't listen to any lies about getting the car serviced. You can buy the car anywhere and have it serviced at any authorized Toyota service department. Dealers make money when you give them you business even if it is in the service department.

Don't settle for less than what you want. The internet sales manager can get you exactly the color you want and the package that you want if you are willing to wait a couple weeks.

Good luck in you search, and have a good day!

Sam Raza is my car dealer at Fort Bend Toyota. So far we have bought 3 cars from him and he is like a family friend now. He didn't try to upcharge me for my 2008 Prius and I got the car in July- he still calls to make sure everything with the car is going well.
