Good Deal? White '07/Package 3/24,000mi/Certified $22,700?

    Hi All,

    I'm hoping to be a Prius owner very soon, maybe even today. I was wondering if I could get an opinion a price I came across? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    I went to a dealer yesterday and came across this deal:
    •2007 Prius
    •White
    •Package #3
    •24,000mi
    •Certified

    The asking price was $23,388, and through surprisingly cordial hardball dealing, I only brought them down to $22,779. I was hoping to get $22,500 drive out which would have meant a little over $21,000 before TT+L. I didn't take the deal, but they called back this morning to see if I wanted to negotiate again. Was what they offered reasonable? Was what I was asking for reasonable?

    I've been researching prices of new and used extensively, and I can get a better deal on eBay for sure. I'd, of course, rather deal locally and get the certified warranty if I can. Their asking and bargained down price seems to be a higher than average, but I don't know if the certified warranty adds justifies it.

    Any thoughts?

    I think prices vary by location...

    But, I just bought my 08 Prius with PKG 4 in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania last thursday for 24000 + TTL..

    It's hard to say exactly what I paid because my trade got into the mix. But I paid around $23,000 for a 2008 with package 2. If I were you I would shop for a new 2008 and see how low you can get this car for. I bet you'll get within a thousand or so of this used car. You may be able to get it for around the same price...

    There seemed to be plenty of new Prius' in the dealership and they seemed eager to sell them.

    In terms of the Toyota extended warranty, my understanding is that as long as the car is less than 3 years or 36,000 miles on it you can get a new car warranty for it. You can get a 6 year, 100,000 warranty advertised on Priuschat for around $900.

    I got my '07 package 3 for $21500 in Syracuse (2200 mi.). It was listed for $22500. That said, because I was exporting I couldn't buy the 'toyota certified' thing.
