I've been reading Same Guy, Different Car and I am extremely scared now that buying the wrong car may repel women from me.

Would a man driving a Prius be attractive or would he be unattractive?

If you're actually scared that buying the "wrong" car may repel women, you've got much bigger problems than which car to buy.

wow, that was a horrible story.

if i were single, i would agree that i would be looking for a man who is a good provider among other things. the car he drives is a sign of that, but if he had to go $75k into debt to do it (with a porsche, say) i'd say he's not very smart about money either and that's a big turn off...

i'm more into the type who gets dirty fixing things than the type who sits pretty in a flashy car myself.

and imagine the *types* of women he attracts in that porsche. is that the kind of woman you want anyway? the phrase "high maintenance" never comes off well in thinking of a potential mate. i suspect you would attract a different type of woman with a prius than you would with a sports car.

amen! hey, i went from a pretty flashy Tundra with chrome off road wheels, lift, tint, to a Prius....and being 19 as of tomorrow, id say practicality and functionality beats out looks and "show off" factor and hey, if the woman wants the ones with flashy cars, dont need em anyway

If they were really hardcore materialistic they would realize that a man driving a Prius would have way more money to spend on them rather than spending it on gas.

I don't know how old you are son but take it from someone that's been around the block a few times.

I've been driving my Prius since I was a boy, always with both hands. :cheer2:
I haven't noticed how much female attention the activity draws but when they do notice they don't seem to mind, much!:jaw::bolt:
    Hope this helps.:pound:

I love the Prius, rented it twice and I am about to buy one soon, but I remember one car that I once rented that was a big hit with the ladies: a Chrysler Sebring Convertible. It was metallic golden with golden rims, full leather interior, power top and all, a very nice car. It had a V6 engine and got better gas mileage than my brother's Neon. I rented that car for four months straight while going to school in Virginia, courtesy of Uncle Sam, you tax dollars at work, and loved every minute of it. Back then (2000), gas was still cheap and I put almost 9,000 miles in four months on it. I drove all up and down the east coast from Atlanta to NYC and everywhere I went I got a nice, positive reaction from the ladies. I remember I scored at least twice directly because of the car, I never thought a Sebring could do that but it did. When I returned to California in the end of my school and went back to driving my Hyundai Accent I got none of that reaction. It could have been the East coast girls vs the West coast girls, but I think that Sebring helped it. I can see how some women might be attracted to a convertible car.

We stopped to get gas in South Carolina and my daughter overheard a redneck talking to his buddies while I was inside the store/gas station.

"That guy with the leather jacket got out of that red car over there with the poodle in it. That car that gets 100 miles to the gallon."

If I'd heard that I might have said, "Well, it isn't 100 MPG and it isn't a poodle", but I tend to ignore rednecks.

The type of woman you attract with a fancy car is not the type of woman you want to attract.

A similar example comes from boats. Sleek go-fast boats with huge engines are often adorned with decorative women, lounging on deck in next to nothing bikinis with perfect false nails and boobs to match; pleasant to look at, boring to live with, and expensive to maintain. Sailboats, on the other hand, attract functional women: wind blown hair, short nails, and foul weather gear. They are a lot more fun, but not so shiny on the surface.

I notice girls don't come near me regardless of what I drive, cos I'm ugly.

Sam, you are a naughty girl.

Come on out to Spokane and I'll take you for a ride in my Xebra. It doesn't even have an engine. Electric all the way!

If I didn't get seasick I'd have a sailboat. (And a crew of short-nailed wind-blown women to sail it. :flypig: )

My situation is similar to SDTUNDRA's, in the fact that I came out of a truly beautiful BlueSteel metallic 4 door Tundra. It was nothing less than stunning. I never attracted many women with it, but I did attract several other Tundra owners.

Now, owning a Prius, I have discovered that I'm laughed at by the female persuasion. In addition, I'm scorned, called names, flipped off, threatened, and called nasty names by the opposite sex. Hopefully, my wife will calm down and let me enjoy my Prius.

If it makes you feel any better, my husband drives a Porsche Boxster S, and he has commented several times that only strange men come on to him (or at least comment on his car).

I think the story proves that, if you're looking for a meaningful relationship, you should drive an cheap car. That way you can immediately weed out all the people--male and female--who aren't looking for the same thing. Afterall, this story doesn't say anything positive about the guy who just wants to attract any woman and will use a car to do it. Now, if he had kept the hatchback just so that he could immediately reveal the values--or lack thereof--of his date, then that would be a different--and better--story.
