So... I need to DRILL into my beautiful new 05 prius in order to install my cargo net... That is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. Has anyone had any luck modding a little ring into the existing screws that are located near where I'm supposed to drill in the pacakged rings?

Shouldn't there be a piece of paper that helps you locate the exact position?

try vfaq.net for instructions and pics

Yes, I did receive that paper -- the key is that I really hate to drill into my new car. There has to be a way to use the existing screws that are in that location...

This is not a big deal at all. If you'd have had it dealer installed they would drill the holes. Tape the templates on, the drill goes into the plastic easily. This is one anyone can do and it's nearly impossible to screw up.

Trying to mod will likely not fit the net properly, but if you just can't bring yourself to put a couple holes in the car let us know what you figure out.

Also, there's the option of buying the horizontal net...see the Sponsored commercial ads section.

When I picked my '05 up I noticed there was no cargo net. I asked the dealer to order one for me. It arrived the next day. My only problem was finding a bit of the correct size (very important!) but a trip to the hardware store took care of that.

I didn't even wince when I drilled the two holes and installed the brackets as per the template. The net works perfectly and I think it's a good design.

Don't worry about the holes. Lots of folks even have their ears pierced!
