i heard it can take like 6-12 months but the dealer might not have known what he was talking about.

Is it true that you can't lease one either??? :(

i originally put my deposit down with an intention to lease. when the car came in, the dealer refused to lease the car to me. He put me in a tough spot, but given that I got the car for $500 under msrp, I think he was sore. I ended up financing it.

If you want a car sooner and are willing to travel a little to get it, Koons Tysons Toyota in Northern Virginia has 43 Prii arriving in January. They sell for MSRP + dealer processing fee. Their internet sales guy, Tom Quinn, is really nice to work with. You can e-mail him at [email protected]. I'm picking mine up next week!

Advice from northern NJ owner who got frustrated with local dealers: Get one out of town. There are a number of posts today and yesterday showing Prius(i) available at MSRP. I got mine from a Wisconsin dealer but there are others a lot closer.

The salesman was rather vague on availability (saying it could be months but buyers do change their minds and cars come in on short notice), but did indicate it was possible to lease. We're thinking that's better since you know you can return it at the end, but limited mileage could be an issue if I change jobs.

Better to finance a purchase thru Toyota or elsewhere?

For those of you that find available Prii online, how do you go about that? start with the toyota web site and get a list of dealers and start going to their web sites or calling them? I am planning to start calling around if I don't get much response from the salesman.

    thanks, Dave.

Fastest way is to check the Commercial Sales forum on Prius Chat or the For Sale forum on Prius Online.

We live in central NJ, and got ours (2nd color choice) in Oct after only 6 week wait. Many dealerships were quoting very long intervals and acting very disinterested in our business, but we found a dealer in Clinton, NJ that was just great.

Just got my Prius last month from Hudson Toyota.

I don't recommend them, since they really made me jump thru hoops and they really misrepresented the deal.

The salesguys really were your stereotypical slimeballs and were not straight-shooters... a very painful experience, but i still went thru with the deal since I wanted the Salsa Red right then and there.

    Go elsewhere....

I walked in and bought mine in WV. I was a Subaru fan, but wanted the excellent mileage. I was the 2nd WV person to buy from this dealer. All others have been out of state. Bert Wolfe Toyota--he has one on the lot right now. :D

Thanks to all of you who replied, you're very helpful! I have thought of another question, but am posting it under a new subject line here in the main forum.

I have to second what Ms. Piggy said. I contacted Tom Quinn at Koons Tyson's Toyota in Vienna, Va. shortly before Christmas and am picking mine up later this month. He is very pleasant to work with.
