    To Raintree,
I also apologize. It was just a frustrating event to hook all the wires in the limited space and then not have the installation work. I think that my problem is with the ignition power cable. I removed the covers from the center relay panel and spliced a purple wire for power. However, when I grounded the Mod harness the relay would click/buzz and the tuning lights did not work. I reconnected the wires without the kit and everything is working as delivered. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.

Apparently DRLs have a specified-by-regulation beam pattern, and the fog lights do not match it.

One of the other threads about headlights on this forum mentions it; one of the participants has done formal write-ups for the gov't (published in the Federal Register) on headlights: beam patterns, intensities, beam color, glare, etc. Very educational reading.

    Ah, here it is:

I have a slight problem with that. I have a 2003 and can't turn them off (day time running lights) and can't find a dealer that will rig them to turn off. They run at about 80% capacity instead of 25 to 30% like GM.

Foglights are regulated by state law, not federal. The law varies widely from state to state. Daytime running lights have their own set of restrictions and requirements. Foglights are generally too dim and dispersed to qualify as daytime running lights.

Ok, so here comes a probably stupid question....but I've only had my prius 2 weeks, so I'm excused right?

I have a pkg #2, so no HID (I think) and no Auto lights. However I noticed the first time I was driving it at night that the headlights were on, even though I hadn't turned them on. I'm guessing that this means that they were always on during the day....do the non-Auto lights still turn themselves off eventually when the car isnt running? I am just comparing to my old car, where if you left the lights on then they would stay on and run down your battery.....I guess I should just test this out but I'm too much of a newbie and I don't want to risk a dead battery on this car which is still pretty foreign to me....

Thanks for any advice/ "duh"s/wisdom

The US Prius has an Auto Off feature.

If lights are turned on when you park and power down they will turn off automatically when you open the drivers door.

When you power up again they will come on again.
