has anybody ever know someone that owned a H2, I was looking at one on a display and the fuel numbers weren't listed. Any actual mpg for one or is it about the same as Blazer/Yukon what ever they call the full sized Blaser nowadays? I agree with Evan to get in a bunch of esoteric conflicts for nothing isn't the way to achive change.

One of my wife's partners has one. Haven't ridden in it. He's a nice guy, but likes to be the center of attention.

leased or owned outright? If leased he's probably writing off all his expenses as well, and doesn't care what the mileage is. I would think probably about 8-10 or thereabouts.

No idea, never cared enough to ask. I don't think he's an independent contractor so i don't know if he'd be able to write off the expenses. I suspect, knowing him, that he owns rather than leases.

Good advice. I just looked around for a little bit - I didn't want to become a member of a hummer forum anyway. Actually, I thought it was pretty sad. One thread was all about how they like to roll over and crush cars. I guess it's a competition or something. I saw lots of derogatory comments about tree huggers. I did a search for "Prius" - some good complimentary stuff, some hateful.

Evan, you are right. Sorry if I have roused any arguments here.

I'm a new Prius owner (40 days) and a novice Priuschat member, so I'm very eager to know everything (I've been reading all Priuschat posts. Just finished your wonderful EV mod and the debates on the octane gas. Guess it'll take at least another month to finish all the posts). Everyone here including me is a Prius envy and enjoys it, so I was interested in knowing what the other type of ideology from such as H2 fans. There must be something that they believe great, which I'd like to understand. Similar to that we are amazed at everything in Prii.

Actually, I went the above link and did a search on "prius". I read a few and found interesting without other emotional feeling.

What about the H2 SUT or H3?

    Honestly, it's like asking
    "I want a Hummer"
"Which size would you like? we have small (H3), medium (H2) and large (H1)"
"No, I need one that can haul my dirty stuff"
"Sorry, we don't have a pickup version but we do have a sport utility truck"
    "What's that?"
"It's like a pickup crew cab. It has 4 doors and a a bed"
"and it's not a pickup truck because...?"
    "because it's an SUV" :Wth:

Whoa the Ortho pod who drives a Hummer in our lot is a "center of attention" guy. He is not but he wants to be. Come to think about it he has not been around in a few weeks. Maybe he "retired"

Apologies if I stirred up any rancor as well.

The only acquaintance I know who owns a Hummer (H2) said it was mostly security. She was worried about the crime in the area she used to work in -- apparently a very high crime district -- and felt safer driving to work every day in a Hummer.

I personally don't see the logic, but (a) I'm a guy (and that makes a helluva difference) and (B) I'm not in a high crime area.

Ah she has the optional 50 calb machine gun turret and TOW missile package. I guess I don't under stand how a HUMMER is better than another SUV or car but am willing to be enlightened.

The picture you included brought back a nasty image from just yesterday. I had just gotten in my car which was parked in an 'end cap' space and saw one of the female managers come out of the building. I was waiting in the car for a girl I take to Theatre on Ice practice with my daughter. This hulking yellow mass of metal came around the corner with that same manager at the wheel. It did not raise my opinion of her.

I just read the article. I like this part:
Stupid thing gets 8-9 MPG in their tests and can't get off the line any faster than a Prius. Let's see, costs 50% more than a Ford Excursion, carries 50% less, tows 50% less, MPG 50% less, 0-60 equal to a 'lowly' Prius (which has about the same 0-60 stats as a 2002 Buick Century, even a faster 1/4 mile: Source). What's the draw?? Oh yeah: Bling
