Seats are OK for me at 5'9'', but I could live without the embarrassing noises my car makes when I turn off the system. I always have to explain to a passenger what in the world that racket is about! At least is it not like an old '67 Caddy my folks had with suspension leveling. When you exited the car it sound like, "Psssssst"

They are pretty good about staying out of the way! Most of them stay in their fences....it's the deer and antelope that I worry about!

I lived in Bozeman from the 60's thru the 70's! The long legged Moose and Elk are the ones that come over the hood and thru the windshield but with the Prius you can almost drive right under them! LOL!

The Camry and Highlander hybrids achieve the same PZEV rating without the bladder.

I virtually guarantee the next Prius won't have one.

I think there's four types of people that have problems with the bladder:
1) People that live in very cold weather where filling the bladder is inconsistent. I believe this to be a very minor inconvenience.

2) Those that are sheep and just repeat other things they've read about bladder issues even though they themselves haven't experienced anything. If they have, there's a high likely hood there's some placebo affect going on here. In addition people often don't like things when they've conditioned themselves to believe there's a problem. An example of this was the study many years ago that gave half the participants non-alcoholic beer and the other half regular beer. Both groups later showed signs of being intoxicated. They thought they were drinking "real" beer, and the rest is history.

3) The biggest, complete, bubbling morons of the human race that can't figure out when your fuel light starts flashing it's time to pull over. If you're on a road trip in the middle of nowhere, plan accordingly.

4) The one guy that I've heard of that had a legitimate problem with his Prius incorrectly reporting he had a quarter tank when in fact he was out of fuel.... this of course wasn't his fault.


I'd like to add:
5) People living in San Diego where all of the gas station pumps I've tried click off after only putting in 0.50 tenths of a gallon! Very frustrating. From the threads I've been reading it's mostly likely due to excessive backpressure from the seal being so tight between the nozzle (with massive accordion-shaped rubber) and the rubber mouth of the car's fuel neck. I've tried different stations and different pumps but to no avail. Any suggestions?

I drove my 2005 Prius for over a year in SD, and I never had this problem.

(Did have one nasty over-fill and accompanying spill, but never unable to put any fuel in at all.)

I don't know if recommendations from 2006 would mean anything, but the stations I used most frequently were the Shell and Union 76 stores at the corner of Rancho Bernardo Blvd and West Bernardo Dr (just west of I-15 at the Rancho Bernardo exit).

That "accordion-shaped rubber" is actually just the vapor recovery mechanism; it shouldn't influence whether the auto-stop mechanism triggers or not. Unless you aren't inserting the metal nozzle far enough to get past the flap/seal at the top of the fill tube?

Consider getting together with another Prius owner in SD and comparing notes.

The same hatch latch! It would be super convenient to be able to pop the hatch from the interior AND also to push a button on the FOB and have the hatch open when you approach in the rain carrying loads of groceries. Balancing it all while trying to manually open the handle is so last decade. I struggled with that for 13 years with my Camry wagon and was soo hopeful that my new Prius would have that feature. They've got it on the Lexus 400H...

 

no moose here in the east, and the only elk are in the breaks (out 52 miles of dirt where the prius does NOT go). We just bought it not too long ago (march 18th), so it hasn't lived with us through a harsh winter yet so I really can't answer that question! sorry!
