second week - current mileage - 53 mpg

    I am into my second week, and second tank of gas. My first tank mileage was 50.1 mpg. Right now I am at 53.4 mpg. I am working on my 'technique' pulse & glide, and other methods. Am having some difficulty with initial excelleration from dead stop, but am hoping to work through this once my 'scangauge' arrives.

    I was getting 27 mpg with my nissan altima 2.5.

    I am happy with what I am getting now...and will be thrilled if I can 'learn' to improve the mpg over time.

    isnt that awesome!! we have had ours for 5 weeks and i dont remember being this excited about a new car in a long time. im 58 so i have had my share of new cars, but usually after a couple of weeks, its just a car. not with the prius. especially since gas prices have kept going up each week that we have had it, which means we are saving even MORE money on fillups. keep in touch on the board and make sure you check out the driving technique, pulse and glide, because it can mean even more savings!!
