I'm new to Prius (just bought mine on Tuesday), but I've had a Tivo for years (including the new HD Tivo). I hang out at TivoCommunityForum regularly.

I just want to say: Welcome to the Tivolution! :)

    TivoToGo update

Hey guys and gals of Tivo!

I just wanted to post an update that some of you may care about...
I finally burned my first DVD on my PC via the TivoToGo software. It took until Feb.9th before they updated my Tivo software to allow transfers and I didn't buy the required Sonic software until a couple days after that. I have saved several programs and a few movies on my HD, but hadn't burned anything until today.

First, the burn went fine...the software has to perform a 'Transcode' that takes a while, but the burn goes fairly quickly even for a 2 hour movie when done at 4X speed. The movie played well in my regular TV DVD player.

As far as the TivoToGo and Desktop 2.0 transfers, I've had some issues. Most transfers go just fine, but occasionally a movie or program will seem to transfer OK, but then I'll get a warning that it was interupted or not complete even though the data seems to show a full transfer. All in all I'm pretty happy. I have not, yet, tried to burn several programs onto a single DVD (ala West Wing)...that'll be the next test and I'll have to figure out how to use the Sonic software to make that happen.

BTW, you have to provide your TIVO code to allow you to watch or burn the programs on your PC...then you have to create a password and use it each time you open the software...it's a bit of an annoyance. But the DVDs, once burned, require no such password.
