I have to give a big THANKS to the Priuschat members and all the great advice, it's really helped in my decision to buy a Prius (As well as Consumer Reports, but Consumer Affairs is TOO negative!) Toyota should give you a free Prius!

IF ANYONE IS LOOKING TO BUY A PRIUS IN SEATTLE: After test-driving and getting a complete printed out breakdown of one dealerships invoice I went online and searched the inventories of Every dealership within a 250 mile radius (all listed on Toyota.com) for the Prius I wanted. I emailed over 30 of them (probably overkill) telling them what I wanted and my low ball offer. Only a few actually emailed back a price, others tried to lure me to call them back, which my boyfriend did, but got the runaround. Only One dealership was up front with his price, and when we went in today, it was the most simple, straightforward, smoothest transaction. Since the Prius is still in demand, the one I wanted had sold, so they are going to get one, hopefully in a couple days - I can't wait!. So if you are in the market for a Prius, I highly recommend going to MAGIC TOYOTA in EDMONDS. I'm working with Jay Kondo. Although I don't have the Prius in my driveway yet, maybe it's a little too early for kudos?

Anyway, I hope this helps out someone in my area. I swear I'm not paid by them! I just believe that good service (especially in something as stressful as Car Buying, ick!) should be rewarded. I'll post pics soon. Glad to be a member!

***UPDATE 4/25*** Well, It was too soon for kudos. I got a call from the dealership today simply saying they couldn't get it and they are going to refund my deposit!! I was told by another dealership that they probably got the car but got a higher offer and sold it from under us, that it happens all the time. BEWARE - SIGNED CONTRACTS WITH DEPOSIT ARE NOT A GUARANTEE and come to find out MAGIC TOYOTA IS KNOWN FOR BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE (Part of Michaels Toyota).

Sorry for all the caps, but it's a beautiful day and I was dreaming of driving my Prius home this morning...

Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes...Thanks for the warm welcome!

I went to Burien Toyota to buy my Prius. $200 over invoice sounded good to me. It is the second Toyota I have purchased from Burien Toyota-- my wife drives an 06 Corolla. Great experience!

Caveat: I was convinced to buy the extended warranty and maintenance plan, but after reading some info on this site, I decided to cancel both and I was able to do so before picking up the car and therefore avoiding the added cost. I was amazed at the "deal" at the dealership vs the actual cost shown on the site.

Like Cafe_Liz, I bought the standard package #2. I did, however, add after market heated leather seats and honestly they are nicer than the factory leather seats.

Question: does anyone have experience running heated seats in the Prius-- wondering what I should expect re battery drain and affects on mileage.

I have a 100 mile round trip commute for my job, but I only have to do it 8 times a month. My drive is almost all on the freeway, 30 miles being 60 mph, 20 miles being 70 mph. I hope to get 50 mpg.

Gas is approaching $4.00/gal in Washington. I saw diesel at $4.56 yesterday!
