    1. Without tax and license
    2. Deal fell out because the car was "sold" in the few hours between 5:30 pm and 9 am. How much do I believe that? Why does that happen every time I talk to a dealer???????

I am in LA, I got mine from Concord Toyota in the bay area, #6 Touring in Mag Grey for 257xx, you need to go Bay area for good deals.

Concord Toyota is now listing the Prius package 2 at the same higher price as in So Cal ($23909-23989). Called Daly City Toyota, was told same price but they might negotiate down to $23,400.

I suspect the good deals of just a week ago have evaporated. That is what the dealers say in my conversations both in LA and SF.

Sooooo, I went to Hollywood Toyota (who had quite a bit of inventory, lots of package 6's and a few package 2's) this morning, and got them to give me last week's discounted offer plus $300 --- Bought the car in my second choice of color (Driftwood) in a package 2 for $22,700 plus added $1500 (yeah, way too much) for leather conversion. My car should be ready in a few days. I feel like I was taken, but there wasn't any other offers that were better out there.

I wish I had shopped a few weeks ago, but hey, my old car hadn't died yet. Who knew?

It's true here in VA as well. A couple of weeks ago we had 40-50 in stock or very close. $500-ish off was a fair price for any package.

Gas goes up and up and the view now is that it's going up more...

Now of those 50 vehicles or so 3 are left and the next shipment is a week or two away. All 3 are Package #6. Package #2s are GONE..everywhere here. We don't even bother trying to call on a dealer exchange, the answer is the same...laughter on the other end. MSRP..again.

People are taking this gas situation seriously now. I personally think we're beyond the 'tipping point' in the hybrids vs gas prices struggle. I'll bet that every third person walking in here wants to see, drive, buy a Prius - or maybe a hybrid Camry.

Absolutely! Agreed. That is why I rushed out and bought my Prius even tho
it was my second choice. I debated waiting for the 2009's (and may regret not doing so, who knows?) but I figure the costs of everything are skyrocketing, the dollar is weak, and I am paying over $3500 a year in gas prices alone at the current rates. I am sure I am not the only one out there who has sworn to only go with the highest MPG cars available in future. It is about time. And nearly too late. Maybe too late.

Sounds like Toyota is clearing inventory, prior to the new model. This way they don't have a fire sale at reduced prices, to sell old stock.

The upgraded leather package includes door panels and console cover at same price as factory leather. The only thing I did not get (that the factory leather included) was the deluxe steering wheel.

It seem they never have the color or package one wants. I am curious what percentage of Prius buyers actually got their first choice of vehicle:confused:
