Last week I called Adams Toyota in Lee's Summit, MO. where I had previously purchased 18 new cars. I wanted to get the 40E, 40J, 40L and the fuel tank and guage fixed. The young write-up person said I would have to bring the car in before they could order the necessary parts. I told him of the instructions with the safety recalls and that was why I was calling, so they could order the parts. Any way, I went in today at 8:30am and after waiting 2 hours, I went searching for the write-up boy and he checked on progress and told me all they had done was the lube, oil and filter and the brake switch, also the cowl seal. He had forgotton to mark the work order with "Customer Waiting"

Finally, after another 1 1/2 hours, he said they would have to order parts for the 40J recall and also the parts for the fuel tank fix. I spent a total of 3 1/2 hours and all I got was tired. They are supposed to call me when the parts come in. :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns:

I'd say the guns are warranted.

I had a similar emperience with a Ford dealership. I made a reservation for 9:00am and dropped the car off. Took the morning off work since they estimated only 2 hours of work. I called at 12:30 because I hadn't heard from them. They told me that the guy was "going to start the work when he gets back from lunch." !

I couldn't believe it. And they didn't care.

That's why i NEVER wait LOL After 5 mins. I would be climbing the walls. If my wife can't pick me up I'd buy a friend a steak dinner to pick me up to avoid waiting.

Hennessey Ford is horrible. My dad had a 2003 lightning (like 10mpg!, but pretty fast) and someone hit his car when we were eating in a diner. Came out to see that the rear left fender dented and scratched. Sent it in to Hennessy Ford and had them do the bodywork. Got the Lightning back in 8 weeks! Thats horrible. Even though Joe Hennessey (the owner of the dealership) is a good friend of my father. To be nice, Joe, Put us on the #1 spot for the Ford Gt (newer Gt40). They called us and asked if we were still interested and we said yes. His reply is that the cost will be $ 250,000! Thats BS! :cussing: . So, my dad said that he was f'ing crazy for asking 100k over MSRP(thats a 100k dealer markup) and slammed the phone on the reciever. They called back about a week from today and asked if we were still interested, and we said yes. They told us that a guy was interested and was willing to offer 250K, and then the guy told them to forget about it. So, If we want it we can get it when it comes in(like in a week). I told my dad that if he wants something that is as fast and handles as good, to get a Audi S4 and beef it up a bit; and to get me a Prius!
I will get a 05 Pkg 6 Millenium Silver as soon as we sell the lexus.

Today, 1/4/05, I got another call. He was very apologetic. They have ordered parts including new fuel guage and ODO, the DVD and the fuel lines to the gas tank. He will call me again when parts come in. Will give me loaner during the modifications.

You would think that after such a number they would throw rose pedals when you walk in and bow at your feet.

I've delievered my share of sales training courses and beat into many heads the importance of lifetime customers. You, my friend, are a lifetime customer representing hundreds of thousands of dollars in lifetime sales, service, and referals. Sounds to me like the owner of the dealership needs to take you out to dinner and put you on his personal Christmas card list.

After my first visit to the dealer, I got a call that parts were in. Drove back to dealer nd left the car but they gave me a new Camry as a loaner.Next day they called again and said they had the Nav. DVD but Nav. computer would not accept it. After calling California, were told they would ship a NEW Nav. computer, to be received on Monday, 1/10/05. I called them today and was told computer was not in yet and they would call me when received and installed. I still have their new Camry.

actually better to smash up the loaner than a Prius, by a long shot, and they won't be happy, but it's a lot easier on your nerves to see someone else's air bag's deploy.

If you smash up a loaner the insurance pays - and your rates go up. No muss, no fuss.

I love my Prius. Coolest car in the universe! But I sure miss the service I got from the now-defunct Honda Dealership when I bought my '89 Civic.

Honda gave me a loaner for any and all service, both repair and routine maintenance; Honda always had my car ready before they said it would be ready; Honda never made a mistake on service, their newest mechanic had been with them for 5 or 10 years; They rated an absolute 10 in every respect.

Had that dealership still been in existance I'd have had a much harder time deciding to switch from Honda to Toyota, and even so I made the switch reluctantly, based on the terribly weak technology of Honda's IMA compared to Toyota's HSD.

The Toyota dealership never has my car ready on time; it offers a "courtesy ride" for which you wait so long, and take such a roundabout route, that I prefer to pay for a taxi; and although I give them fair marks for service quality, they have twice made mistakes for which I had to go back. However they did give me a loaner for the day when they performed the fuel-gauge/filler-pipe TSB. And I only paid $21.77 for each of the first two scheduled maintenance (without tire rotation). So they're better than average overall.

I bought new a 1992 Honda Prelude SR and also consider the service I got from the local Honda dealership as superior. It seems with Honda's you either receive excellent service or bone-chilling horrible service.

When my Prius croaked on me and left me stranded, the shuttle van at my local dealership was busy. So the service writer drove me home in his personal vehicle, that was nice of him. So it looks like I have lucked out with my local dealer.

Huh? Why would the DVD player/Nav computer not accept the new DVD. Sounds downright fishy to me. They probably put it in upside down. :)
