    Hi all,

I just sent out a bunch of e-mails to various dealers. Got mostly "we only sell at MSRP" or "it will be 2-3 months before we have any." I thought one response was particularly unique (the dealer added the red highlight, not me):

    "Good morning Tim,
Thank you for your interest in the new 2008 Prius. We currently have a waiting list on this vehicle with a time of 2 to 3 months. I can place the order for you and it appears that on a package #2 your cost is $24'309.00. (Note) from last month to this month there was a $400.00 increase on all Toyota vehicles. We will take a $1000.00 deposit on the order and place your order to spec. How does that sound to you Tim?"

No...I'm not planning to send him my $1,000 deposit! ;)

I can imagine a car salesman saying this, but actually putting it in writing is very surprising to me. Thoughts?

Go to Hollywood Toyota and talk to Gary Bernt, internet sales manager and tell him Richard sent you. He got me a good deal on a package #2, no haggle pricing. I was in and out for less than 2 hours.
