I need somebody with a better memory or better search skills to help me out.
CRickeyHirose has some '08 NAV DVDs for sale in the Private sales section.

I'd love to update but seem to recall that the '04/'05 disks are not compatible with the '06+ disks. That you can get updates, but you have to order the specific part number for the '04/'05 MY which is different.

    Check my memory on that.

Next, I'd need somebody smart with the right tools to make me a hybrid disk (I may have a local resource) since I definately do NOT want to lose my Easter Egg NAV override.

You wont be able to use the 08 disk. You have to use an update for an 04-05. 06-08 can all use the same disk.

I would offer to make a hybrid disk for you but I would have no way of testing it. If you could wait for Hybridfest I can make backups and hybrids discs with my cars PC. :D

    That's what I thought.
Let's do that at Hybridfest! Does that put much drain on the dilithium crystals?

Cool. Not much drain. Takes about an hour to copy and an hour to burn. Its a slow burner. :(

Those are gen 5 v07.1, meaning they are 2007 discs with 2006 map data on them. Calling them "'08 nav DVDs" is a bit misleading. As far as I have been able to determine, Toyota has not yet released version 08.1 for any generation of nav system.
