Mine was also waiting for me. I also wanted Barcelona Red, #2. There were 4 dealerships near me, three had red #2s. Went to the one with the best deal and they had two so I even got to pick my interior color (gray). That was in March 08. I think it is a different story now, though.

Take heart! Three years ago, we waited 11.5 months for our 05! Now, almost 70k miles later, our Prius remains the best ever!

We went to a dealership on April 22. Test one that was already sold. We left a deposit and since then, we're waiting. (Check four dealears around the area... no Priuses around San Diego) The dealer call us yesterday, that our car is leavin Japan and will be here between May -June 6. It's been a long waiting! Patience.... it is all I can say.
    Good luck to you

ordered APRIL 29, came in MAY 7. (2008)
    PACKAGE 2, MAGNETIC GRAY
    total wait: 9 days.
(none of the 5 local dealers had any in stock)
no negotiation. just called all 5 dealers and asked for the best deal off MSRP.
3 wanted 1-2k more than msrp, told them to go shot themselves.
2 offered 300-500 off. took the best deal and the least bul$$...tting salesman, over the phone.

    this was in new orleans.

I live in the Styx, on the Washington coast. Astoria, OR (pop. 10k) is an hour away, and has a Toyota dealer. I spent a Sunday looking on line for the Prius.

I talked with a salesman on the phone on Monday (August 2007), told him the package and the color (blue). He had a green one on the lot. No good, has to be blue. He said he'd call me right back (yeah, sure, heard that one before...). In this case, he DID call right back. He said there was a blue one on the boat from Japan that was as yet unclaimed. I gave him a Visa card deposit. The car arrived in Portland (120 miles away) on Wednesday, they had it to the Astoria dealer on Thursday and I took delivery Friday morning. So my wait was 5-days.

Love the car. We took it on a 1000-mile road trip first thing, out to the John Day fossil beds (ie: desert). We made two stops for gas (6 gals and 8 gals) and got 57 mpg for the trip. I don't really know how much gas was onboard when I got it, but the gauge read full-blips. I did notice, when coming down the Cascade Mtns, that once the battery filled up (green) after 20 miles of downhill, the car tended to roll free, as in no dynamic braking.

We live in the rural hinterland. From the time we leave our driveway, it's ALL highway driving, and we still consistently see 51 mpg or better. We both drive 5-7 over the limit and pass when necessary. We do coast into stops and accelerate mildly when possible. Wife's commute is 15 miles each way.

    100% satisfied after 8 months!

At the end of March, end of the dealer quarter, IRA Toyota in MA had 12 of them on the lot. I emailed the internet sales division and got at package 2 for $22K. When I went to pick it up they told me they were out of package 2's but had plenty package 6's. I started to walk away when they found a package 2. I didn't really care about color, just no black or white and ended up with a silver that I am having fun with.

0 days. I went to the dealer in the morning, negotiated the deal, and drove home in my new Prius that afternoon.

I bought mine in January of 2005 - when people were commenting they would take whatever the dealership offered them at whatever price

I got mine in two weeks with exactly the package I wanted (loaded with everything) and the color I wanted (Tidelands Pearl) without any dealer add-ons. Oh, and I got it a couple of hundred dollars under MSRP. I was happy.

I ordered mine yesterday. NO Prius on the lot. They sold twenty last week and won't get any more in for about 12 weeks. That been said after I got home they called and told me they had found one at another dealership several hundred miles away...had made arrangements to pick it up from them today! I get mine this week. What a great dealership. I don't know why they did that for me because they have a waiting list but I am grateful they did.

I got mine with the package and color I wanted, (and had them throw in some freebees) My dealer said it was on a truck and it would be about a week. 4 or 5 days later I picked up my baby. This was in November 07

When I ordered mine in the beginning of March, they told me 3 weeks. They had a few on the lot, but I didn't want any dealer add ons, so I just ordered what I wanted.

After three weeks the saleman told me it was stuck in customs. I found that odd, but took deliver 4 weeks later. So yea, I total of 7 weeks, and though it was a long 7 weeks, it was totally worth it. :)

For my 2005, six months. For my 2007, one week. Both were worth the wait.

    Travelblips,

Ordered my wife's '08 Touring on August 29th, 2007. Took delivery on September 27th, 2007. Dealer had estimated 4 to 6 weeks. Ordered my '08 Touring on March 19th, 2008. Took delivery on April 4th, 2008. Dealer had estimated 3 to 4 weeks for it.

Good luck with getting an early delivery and remember, what ever the wait time, it's definitely worth it.

I did not have to wait last November for my Prius. They actually had three in stock, but the other two did not last too long in their lot.

Today, my aunt stopped by for a visit and stated that she wants to buy a Prius asap. So I called my dealership and inquired. My salesman stated that it would take at least 1 1/2 months or so...but he will call me on Tuesday for an update. I am crossing my fingers that hopefully my aunt will end up getting a package 6 in the near future.

I had two deposits in two differnt dealers and was told it would be 8 weeks or so. I called all the dealers in the New York tri state area and found a dealer in New Jersey who had one on the lot and said I could pick it up that same day. I rushed over there and traded in my 96 Rav4 and drove home in my silver pine mica package #2. I absloutly love it and consider myself very lucky not having to wait. Persistence pays off.

My wife and I tried to buy a Prius starting around April 15th. We called/went to every dealer in the DFW metroplex and each had about the same story. 4-6 weeks minimum adn they might be able to get one in, oh and it is only $3000 above list price. Heck, the closest dealership didn't want to even talk to us since the waiting list was so long just for an invitation to bid (auction style) on the Priuses that come in on the truck. Unhapy with this we called nearly every dealer within 600 Miles and found a dealer in Huntsville, AL that could get us a new one in a couple of days. We integrated the purchase of our new Prius with a last minute vacation to visit some friends in Indiana. It was a hassle but boy was it worth it. Best of all, they didn't screw us on price either.
