I am interested in the Lockpick 3+ for my JBL equipped/NAV/Bluetooth 2008 (package 6). Does anybody know if the lockpick works on the 2008? Noting on the CoastelTech site aobut 2008s.

    Thanks,

I'm also a bit curious. I'm surprised they don't mention the 08 cars. I really only want to unlock the "folder list" when playing a MP3/WMA CD...

I finally got somebody from Coastal on the line yesterday. She told me that they have not yet tested any lockpicks for the 2008 Pri's yet. She said to watch the website. This did not give me a high level of confidence since it still refers to the 2007 as being "New" to the compatability list. She did mention that using the lockpick on my 2008 would be at my own risk, and I doubt they would refund my money if it didn't work.

I might send them a note an volunteer my 2008 as a beta?

    Re: Lockpick for 2008's?

I talked with the owner at Coastal and was assured it would work with the 2008. Just received my Lockpick and IT DOES NOT WORK. Apparently there was a recent change in the Prius nav system because it reportedly does work on some 2008's. My car is about a month old and contains Nav 7.1. The Lockpick does not function.

Wow, that's a bummer. I was considering this for my '08 also. Will you keep us informed as to your experience with Coastal? Several have complained of bad service.

how can we verify which nav version we have?
I've got a 2008 package 6 and was this close *pinches thumb and finger* to buying the ultimate lockpick 3.

Coastaltech site says good with 2008 Prius. Hmmmm?

Can you elaborate on the "Apparently there was a recent change in the Prius nav system" point you made earlier in this thread?

    Where did you hear this?

I have purchased the Ultimate lockpick+ and just installed it 2 days ago in my 08 Touring w/package 6 (NAV DVD ver 7.1). I can tell you all that IT DOES work. I can use the bluetooth and NAV while driving, as well as bring up the "DVD" screen (although I have not tried video on it yet). There are a few 'quirks' on each device (IE: to use the phone book, you have to press 'phone' button on steering wheel, then press 'back' soft button on touchscreen to unluck phone book). I also installed the EV mod to allow me to drive in battery only mode. I spent about 90 min start to finish on everything. Everything came from Coastal, and Everything does work. The only advice I can give is to closely read the instructions which are very well written and illustrated. If anyone has a specific question I'll do my best to answer.

    Re: Lockpick for 2008's?

one step behind you snapontool! Got my EV in a couple weekends ago. Now waiting on delivery of my ULP3 - hopefully Monday.
Good to know about the ULP3 quirks.

Have you been figuring out times to use your EV? I use mine from my driveway to the main road(2 blocks) and then on a hill I climb to work(1/2 mile), oh yeah, and in parking lots!

What exactly do you have to do to install lockpick 3 on 2008 Prius Package 6. Can someone who doesn't work on cars install it.

    Re: Lockpick for 2008's?

I have both the Lockpick 3+ and the EV for my 2008 package 6 and everything does work. Last night while waiting for a table at a local restaurant we watched part of a movie while waiting for the buzzer to buzz letting us know our table was ready.

Nice Jon on the movie while you wait.

The Lockpick is an easy DIY. You can either disassemble the dash or just access the connections through the dash center speaker.

Some have completed the install themselves in 10 minutes.

Both ways to do it have instructions w pictures here on PC.

    Re: Lockpick for 2008's?

I purchased the Lockpick3 and the Electric only module and they both work perfectly. I decided not to install it myself and had it installed by a local shop here called Safe and Sound. They did it in about 30 minutes. The Lockpick is awesome, I would not get the Electric module - not worth it. You need to have the battery charged to at least 3 bars. Sort of defeats the purpose if you are going to take a short trip to the store as you wont be able to charge it enough. Also you cannot go more than 34 mph. Step on the gas pedal too hard and it turns of as well. Still I love the Lockpick and it was well worth the extra money.:) I had read some bad thing about Coastal Etech in terms of returning emails and phone calls but I ordered this thing and had it in three days! No hassles at all. Works perfectly. FYI if anyone wants Safe and Sounds telephone number it is : Safe & Sound Designs

    Re: Lockpick for 2008's?

I mostly use it in parking lots here in SoCal. I just can't resist the opportunity to show off the silent running of the EV. The looks from people are just too funny as I roll past in silence (Caution taken of course). Most surface streets here are over 40 MPH, so EV is not an option over 35. I look forward to hearing about your successful install on your Lockpick, so be sure to share your experience pal!

Yes, wouldn't want people to get the wrong idea and overflow your thread with safety lectures!

    p.s. Driving stealth is fun!

p.s.s. Fingers crossed my ULP3 is waiting for me when I get home tonight!!! I will post the details.

    All is well!!
    Working perfectly!!!

If your considering anything from CoastalTech I say GO FOR IT!
Everything they've sent me is professional and in great working order. They even have called ME a few times (although they still don't reply to e-mails, but whatever), their equipment is best in market!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Lockpick for 2008's?

If you have the Coastal Ultimate lockpick, then you have the necessary audio and video connections to plug in any DVD or movie player you like. Just hit the "CD" button a third time to bring up the "DVD" option..
    Hope this helps u!
