I really don't care what other people think. If they think I'm weird, that's their problem. I wave to lots of folks, Prii owners included. Life is too short not to have a good time. For me, acknowledging other people is having a good time. More often than not I get at least a smile in return. Who knows, maybe that will be the only time that day that a little joy came into that person's life. Wave and smile and go to sleep tonight knowing that you did something good for your fellow humans.

I remember playing the wave game during my teen years. The look on people's faces trying to figure out if they know me was absolutely great. They probably thought about it for the rest of the day.

So, I say, wave. Can't Hurt, Might Help, someone.

I feel the same way. I wave a lots of people, people who are in a Prius, people who aren't. I just think that its nice sometime to do, I also like the looks on people's faces. You know they are thinking, "do I know that person..."

Even here in little old Ireland I see 3 or 4 Prius a day, and no-one has ever waved, but neither do I. We are too common..everywhere, which is a great thing of course.

I had to honk at another Prius the other day when he made a wide right turn in front of me and cut into my lane almost hitting me. I actually hesitated on the honk because it was another Prius, but I installed thehttp://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B00079V5ZI?tag=priuschatcom-20 and decided that they should not go to waste. I live near a retirement community and find I need to honk quite often to keep from getting killed.

I have three girls, 7, 8, and 9, and they are very enthusiastic about spotting other Prii. My oldest daughter and I play Prius Punch which is similiar to Slug Bug. The Prius is becoming a very common car, though.

I used to drive a Nissan Armada 4X4, and while I cannot be as pushy in traffic with the Prius, I do feel like other drivers (of all cars) are more courteous towards me. Many times I have had another Prius let me in when I signal to make a lane change in traffic.

My husband and I talked about waiving when we bought our Prii because we do when we are on our motorcycle. Prius are all over town now, though. Went to a restaurant yesterday where there were four in the parking lot!

I agree about too many new people not knowing or caring much about the tech part of the Prius.. I guess that's a good thing. It's considered "just any old car" and they buy it because it gets phenemonal mileage. I tried doing the wave things several times here in Indy (and we've had one for a couple of years now).. but to no avail! I don't think anyone has ever waved back. That's ok.. though I'm sad that these are becoming commonplace, I'm happy that these are becoming commonplace. Even the general non give a youknowwhat public is starting to think about things like environment and conservation. Still, the wave would have been a nice touch!

When I got my car in April the first other Prius I came across was the same color as mine and we were facing each other across an intersection. I saw them look over at me and point and then they started waving enthusiastically. It was so cool :) Only had it happen once more so far though. I still smile give a little wave regardless :) I agree with Bob, can't hurt and if it gives someone a little bright moment in their day, all the better.

I just had someone waving at me today as they passed me on the freeway...I always reciprocate but don't tend to initiate.

    Haven't we done this before.

    Well here goes again!

I waved to other Bikers when I rode my bike(s)!
    I waved to other CJ-7 Folks when I had my 85 CJ-7!
I waved to other VW Camper's when I had my 77 Camper!
I wave to old VW's when I drive my 68 Bug.
I wave to other VW Campers when I drive my 03 Eurovan.
I'll wave to another Prius owner, just for kicks!

I do know someone who on occasion likes to wave at random strangers to cause that 'do i know you' confusion.

I think about this pretty much every time I drive. I always like to check out how many Prius are in the neighborhood, their colors, who's driving them, etc. But they never seem to be looking in my direction, checking me out! I think a wave would be awesome, but I live in Boston and the people here are not notoriously warm and cuddly.

Don't you mean they're notorious but not warm and cuddly?
    ;)

I get the same experience and feel the same too.
In my case maybe they avoid looking at the wildly happy overgrinning nut case in the next car.

But really, they're probably all caught up in their own world and it's troubles.

No! It's just nice to wave :)

We still wave at other Prius drivers and I also wave at them when I'm driving the EV. I would say about half and half for those who acknowledge you and those who don't bother. It's all part of the fun :)

I've been involved in a few prius convoys on the freeway though. We all tend to gravitate towards each other as we all have cruise control. It makes for a really nice driving experience! ;)

If the corvette owners can display their "#1" and the motorcycle community can signal "peace" to one another when they pass; then it's cool to wave and smile!! Truly... what's the worst that can happen... no response right?
