Interesting that you two would mention the Michelin Harmony. After going to Michelin's site this AM and reading more posts (searched for Harmony), I was just about to order the Harmonys from Tirerack. The reported noise from the HydroEdges and great reviews on the Harmony changed my mind at the 11th hour.

I will miss the look of the new rims, tho. In person, they do look like they were made for the car. Too bad they don't make them in 16" for the Prius.

Thanks again for all of the help!

Those wheels look great on the Prius. Too bad the wheel/tire combo drops mileage so much. If only you could get a narrow 17" wheel/tire (like a 185/50/17 or 195/50/17) with low rolling resistance.

As the others mentioned, try bumping up the tire pressure from the 34/32 psi on the door frame to 40/38 or 42/40. NVH will go up a bit more, but you should be able to get back some of the mileage loss.

Finally, keep in mind that your new tire is just slightly bigger overall than your old tire (just under 1% in circumference according to the specs, 24.6" diameter vs 24.4" diameter) so don't forget to take that into account, too.

Thanks. Mileage-friendly tires sizes are very limited for 17 inch rims. The narrowest is the 195/40-17 and it is quite a bit smaller in diameter than stock (873 rpm). There is a very limited number of tires available in this size, too. The choices aren't much better for 205s and that is why I went with 215s. That width along with the weight and non-LRR status are bound to be MPG killers.

I am planning to pump up the wheel pressure today and see what happens. But, the ride is already pretty harsh on some local roads. The feel is great on the Interstate and smooth hiways, tho.

I'll miss the rims and, as it turns out, so will the wife...who has really grown attached to the look. Hey, maybe we can press ASA into making these in a 15 or 16 with a 5 bolt pattern. They are a very popular and well-made aftermarket rim and the development was originally overseen by BBS. In fact, BBS used to be stamped right on the rim. As the Prius popularity increases, we may see a 16 (and more LLR 16 tires). I hope so.

Hey GreenGene, glad to hear you like the Harmony's on Prius. I originally had Michelen X1 way back. From what I understand the Harmony replaces the X1. I had them on matching Saturn SL2's. And now it's matching Pri. Wife's, and mine. So, Harmonys it will be.

SayWhat, if you get the Harmonys let us know what you think.

Will do. There was a national back order on them and TireRack had to send them to me from Nevada, where they only had two sets left. It could be over a month before more are available.

Saywatt, I know it been years since this post, but I'm curious if you needed to put spacers between the rims and hubs?

    Thanks,
