It sure is. I was viewing another Buckland posting and was wondering how he got the second bug to walk around outside of the Priuschat window ! It suddenly became clear when the "real" bug climbed up on the screen frame and walked around the back of the screen --- duuh !

I'm of two minds about this issue - hence my forum name. My other car (see avatar) is a 92 Corvette with a highly modified 383 racing engine. The other day I put $75 of gas to do an evening of racing (6 quarter-mile runs plus 120 miles round trip). The next day, I had to put another $60 of gas in it! On the other hand, we love it when we can do a 200-mile day trip in the Prius for about $16 of gas.;)

Suggested new Toyota television commercial: Gas station - on one side is a Ford Expedition or Hummer filling its tank . . . and filling, and filling . . . At the same time five Prii drive up on the opposite side of the pump, fill and move on. The Expedition owner is frowning. All the Prius drivers are smiling.

Great concept for a Toyota TV spot!

    p.s.
I love when the SUVs and mustangs speed past me just to hit the breaks at the red light I've been coasting to. I get there next to them with a big smile :pound:

All the more reason to avoid gas stations as much as possible IMO.

You've never driven a Ferrari then.

I've driven Porsches, a Vette Z06, and a BMW M3, and a couple of Ferraris and let me tell you, there is absolutely no comparison. Ferraris are beautiful driving machines full of rich history, and driving one is unlike anything else on the road. They're incredible.

Would I buy one? No. But I wouldn't buy a Porsche Cayman, BMW M3, or Vette Z06 either. The Ferrari is in a whole nother league than all of them though.

I absentmindedly pulled into the gas station, on the other side a guy was filing up his SUV. I got out and walked around the car got back in and turned the car around.
He says to me, while still filling the SUV," whats the matter, you forget which side your tank is on?"
My reply was, " yes, I get gas so infrequently that I do forget."
I filled up, paid and silently drove off while he was still filling his SUV.
His last words were, i gotta get one of those.

I hate to say it, but I am concerned that a Prius is now a specific target for carjacking. I know that Toyota SUVs are equipped with catalytic converters that contain platinum and here in our city they are easy targets for cutting the converter out in just a few minutes. I have a CHL and I do carry while in the car just in case.

I noticed yesterday at Costco after I filled up that the Lexus in front of me only put in 4 gallons @ $3.87. The guy was in scrubs so I must assume that the person was in the medical profession. Maybe a doctor?

Don't ALL catalytic converters have platinum?

I gave the clerk $50 and the pump cut off at $5 ("Missed it by THAT much!") ... The clerk corrected the problem but I still had to pay $5 and then the rest.

I am asked a lot about if I like my Prius, normally by guzzlers @ the gas station (absolutely, traded my truck for this). What do I get MPG (well right now I have ##). If I would get another (this is our 'another'). People are very nice, I answer any questions they have about the car. Then, I always send them to this site... Even the guzzlers.

Now many of my coworkers want to test drive my car... as long as they buy lunch - no problem. =) Since there is a waiting list again, the only way to test one of these is to have a friend who has one already.

Lately I have been hearing interesting news articles... People who are purposely running out of gas because they know that the wreckers will put fuel in their cars if that is all that's wrong. Other people who fill their tanks one day, and the next it is empty (normally trucks without locking gas caps - evidently people are starting to take the gas out)

Reading that story again about the angry lady, I find it's both funny and sad. Funny that the anger is obviously misdirected. Sad that gas prices have been allowed to rise out of control by speculation, which is hurting a lot of working people. Never mind about a person's judgement in buying gas guzzlers. That's why gas was $3. it is not why gas is $4.
The government had better do something, or a lot of politicians are going to be out of work in November. This is a hot button issue with the voters right now.

You pay a lot of money for a Porsche because it will go 150 mph on a track. In regular traffic, it's just another car. The Prius is smoother and quieter. How do I know.

I don't disagree. Well, I find the Prius all but unbearable to drive any more than 45 minutes, but thats me. I agree that other cars are more enjoyable in ordinary US driving. Obviously because of what I drive.

That doesn't mean a Porsche is not an extremely well built driving machine. It also doesn't mean that a Porsche or a Ferrari is not a worthwhile car to own. Sunday drives on back country roads, a weekend to the beach. They're a lot of fun. Great third car, I'd never buy one to drive every day. Again, I would never buy a Prius to drive ever...so what do I know?

But they are enjoyable places other than the track, and there are several GT Ferraris that are very drivable every day. Aston Martins too...

Given your level of emotional maturity and self-control, it's a good thing you're not a cop.
