Tonight at 6 pm (EST) marks the debut of a new Discovery Channel called Planet Green. Planet Green is being advertised as the first and only 24-hour eco-lifestyle television network.

Folks can check its availability at their home through the Channel Finder. Unfortunately it appears that the HD broadcast won't be available (yet?) on either my local cable or DirecTV.

Do folks think that there is enough content to go 24/7? A number of their shows sound interesting, now let's just hope that they are!

Thanks for posting the Channel Finder link. That saved me the trouble of searching for it the hard way. :D

Cox has it on 103. I don't get 103. You have to pay extra beyond basic for it.

    *sigh* Oh well.

Yeah for me it's on digital tv only, which I don't have.

I would probably have upgraded to digital already except Comcast keeps trying to force it by taking channels away and making them "digital only." Of course this just makes me mad so I don't upgrade.

Awesome! I just saw an advertisement for planetgreen.com in Newsweek magazine, so I checked it out, then performed a search on PriusChat, and came to this page. A whole channel dedicated to "going green." Sweet!

We watched a Green Machines show that pitted an electric snowmobile against a nasty gas one. The electric one did pretty well. It was designed for some climate research facility in Greenland, where the emissions from a normal snowmobile would ruin their research.

I wondered about the range too, but never heard them mention it.

I see the ads for it but as of yet it does not appear to be available in my area...i think it would be an excellent idea as long as it did morph into something incredibly stupid .
I'd have higher hopes if PBS or national geographic took on the job....but something is maybe better than nothing? or am i wrong in that thought is nothing better than something inane?

I've been a bit disappointed. Just because a house is made of environmentally sustainable lumber doesn't make a 3,000 sq ft summer house with 20 foot cathedral ceiling "Green". Consumerism at it's best with a new whitewash.

slate.com ripped them a new one (The dreadful Planet Green network. - By Troy Patterson - Slate Magazine). But they concluded with...

I love this channel... it is channel 142 on Time Warner in Bowling Green, Ohio and I watch it at least 4-5 hours a day at the moment (I have a LOT of free time for the next 3 weeks before I move to Arizona). Y'all need to upgrade to digital cable...!
