I originally wanted the dark grey, but they said they had a black with the bisque interior in allocation and would I take it instead. Of course I said yes! The wait for the dark grey would have been another month!

so ... what did you say to the dealer when "considering a Corolla" was suggested?!?

we placed our order only a few days after you did ... on the 28th.
as of last night, we're #8 on the list through a Kokomo dealer and we're being told our wait will be "six to eight weeks" ... which is exactly what we were told when we placed our deposit three weeks ago ....

NOW we're wondering ... are we going to end up with an '08 or an '09 ?!?!? the sales-rep didn't say anything like that - and i didn't think to ask him at the time - but we ARE wondering. i MUST remember to ask him that the next time he calls or i send him an e-mail ....

still, getting an '09 Prius instead of an '08 Prius would not be a huge issue ... just as long as we don't have to wait VERY much longer!

besides ... isn't the '09 rendition supposed to be just a TAD bigger AND have slightly improved EPA-MPG ratings over the '08?

does anyone out there know about that?

From what I hear the 09 will be exactly like the 08, contrary to previous rumors.

I did not hear from my Toyota internet rep today. They got their allocation today and I was hoping....

    Waiting since May 20.

Order ours from Emporia Motors on May 30th. We were 4th in-line. Now we are 1st in-line, as the other 3 got theirs this week. We bought from Emporia Motors only because they had the lowest deposit and lowest document fees. I'm guessing still will be about another 4 more weeks, but maybe I will be lucky and it will get here before the 4th of July.

I think I emailed over 20 dealers around the midwest and not one would do less than MSRP. Most wanted $1,000 deposit and about $150 to $300 doc fees. Some were rude and thought I was crazy for wanting to wait on a new one and not pay their overly high prices on the used ones they had on the lot.

We just got word from our dealer that our 2008 Magnetic Gray, package 3 will be here early next week. We got on the list May 24th so it was a 1 month wait. We were originally told it would probably be 8-12 weeks. I know that the next few days are going to drag by.

OK, everyone, I received this email today:

"We wanted to let you know that your order should be filled in our allocation tomorrow. From the allocation date, it will be about two weeks for delivery of the vehicle to us. We will confirm tomorrow once we have more definate information.
    Thank you,"

I'm wondering if this is just a generic mass mailing to keep you on the WL or did they really match me up with my car? The reason I'm confused is that I did NOT go thru an internet buyer at the dealer to order the car, but this is from the dealership....anyone else get a similar email prior to actually getting their Prius? Thanks for indulging me!

Travel, sounds liek you will be good to go in two weeks. They should have a VIN # for you pretty soon. If they don't volunteer it, call them in a couple of days and say you need it for insurance/financing and get them to give it to you. If they give you a VIN, you are set.

The Corolla is not a bad little car for what it is. I had an '06 LE that really was a nice little car. Nothing fancy, but pretty good gas mileage. The sun visors were incredibly cheap though...pretty much just a piece of felt wrapped around a frame. They were small and pretty flimsy. But it did have a 6 disc CD changer standard. One of the first things I checked out in my neighbor's Prius were the sun visors to be sure they were not as cheap and flimsy as the Corolla's.

I didn't mean to insult the Corolla, it's just not a Prius!

Wish we had got this email so far. A month now since putting a $500 non refundable deposit down for a Barcelona Red option 5, at 250 under MSRP and being 17 on the list. Up to 3 a week and a half ago, and checking in every week, being told maybe this week we will know. Place seems honest and nice no nonsense salesman, after our local dealer wanting 1000 non refundable deposit, and charging 1000 over msrp plus forcing you to get some 880 plastic bumper and side kit.

Have said that we would go up to an option 6 and some wiggle room on color (I like pine mica, silver, spectra blue, seaside pearl). Kind of concerned at all the negative stuff I now read about the navigation system but don't want the clutter of cords and suction cups falling off while driving any more.

But SO fed up with waiting and not knowing. It makes you keep second guessing yourself. Should we have asked for this color or that option package? Can we afford to put down a deposit with another dealer to hedge our bets? What good is a good price if we wait too long for the car and waste more money on gas? Also, if we knew for sure we would have one in two days or two weeks or two months we could make plans for family trips this summer. We won't go anywhere in current family vehicle.

Kids currently ride bikes or walk or hitch a ride w me when I drive to work, but kinda hard to do anything but drive to church 12 miles away several times a week. Local stores too expensive to shop locally, so $12 round trip to the cheaper town. Also, roads here are completely unsafe for bicyclists and few sidewalks (narrow, crowded with trophy brides in Suburbans and Escalades).

Currently driving a beloved troop carrier er Explorer we needed until now for transporting large family, big dog, two cats, supplies on dirt roads, hilly, and in deep snow when visiting rural family home, and regularly carpooling youth group here, but 13 mpg is less and less appealing for daily commute now to work on paved roads, and with two kids about to go off to college far away (want to drive them and stuff several times a year rather than huge airfares, and affordable in Prius). Gas $4.69 a gallon when I last filled tank.

Not sure how to transport new Shepherd mix pup in Prius once we get it. A crate won't fit, when whole family rides, but puppy teething on new Prius is a nightmare thought!! A muzzle would be cruel, and rawhide bones only keep pup's attention about five minutes..

    Now what do I do?

First the good news: my dealer got at least one car in their allocation, and since I am next in line, in 2-3 weeks I'll have a Prius! It's even in our first color choice, Magnetic Gray.

Now for the disappointing part (at least for us): it's a Package 2. I was hoping for at least a 3 and preferably a 5 (for the HIDs not the NAV). The internet manager I am dealing with said that there are essentially no 3 or 5 models coming this way any more, only 6s. I've kind of given up on Toyota sending our region any Tourings (our absolute first choice was either a Touring 2 or Standard 4, neither of which come here).

So, do I have any room to try and get him to work a trade w/ another dealer? Should I go and ask to see the regional allocation sheet to confirm his story? So far he seems to have been pretty upfront w/ us. Do I call another dealer to see what they can do and take a pass on this one (still preserving my spot in line)?

Truthfully I'm excited about getting the car but not as excited as I feel I should be, seeing as how most people seem to be getting closer to what they want...

Re: Now what do I do?

My dealer told me that he can add the mirror and homelink suppose ya can also add the headlights to bring it up to a 5. The main issue is the CD changer and JBL systems and speakers. The 2 - 3 is a big hit and if you dont need the changer take pkg 2 and add the things ya want.

    Thanks spidey...

Truthfully, my original wish was for a Touring Pkg 2, but I bumped my request to a Touring 3 when I found out that Touring 2s were impossible to find. I guess I was just hoping against hope that a Touring had come in...I imagine adding the lights will not be an inexpensive proposition...

    Greg

    P.S. You're right about going from a 2 to a 3: over $1500!
