We stayed at Club Bali Hai on Moorea, Sunset Beach Motel on Raiatea and the Novotel on Bora Bora.

Each place had its own charm. The Bali Hai was really nice because it's not as isolated from the local community as others. Plus they have all kinds of different activities going on ... crab races, Happy Hour with Muck McCallum (one of the original Bali Hai Boys), etc.

Sunset Beach is a pension as opposed to a full-service hotel. It's remote and very quiet. We loved being able to walk out onto the pier at night and see the stars with absolutely no light pollution.

The Novotel is more of a traditional resort and was a nice place to finish off the trip. One thing about the Novotel that was nice for us was it was the only place with a completely closed room. At the other two places we had some discomfort when the smoke from the locals burning their coconut shells drifted into our rooms. That didn't happen here.

Sure looks like beautiful place. Good thing you had a return flight booked, or it might have been tempting to stay. I can see myself phoning from the dock to say "Hey, do you know a guy named Hyo? Well, he just got eaten by a shark, and he's not coming back. Bye." ;)

Finally got most of our pictures back last night. 11 rolls ... eek! We went through them last night and culled the too-dark ones & the blurry ones. Now we just have to go decide which ones we think are web-worthy. Once we do that, the scanning starts & I'll be able to share some of the shots with y'all.

There's still a roll with two more shots on it in the camera (the wife promises to take them today), but we'll be able to get started at least.

Realizing that we eliminated roughly the equivalent of 2-rolls worth of pictures almost got the wife to see the merits of going digital. Almost, but not quite. The problem there is my 15-year-old SLR still works perfectly and I don't feel like spending the money for a new one ... yet. I want one, but I don't need one.

What is the carbon footprint of this?

Shouldn't you just stay home with the AC off and mow the grass with scissors or something more environmentally friendly?

We bought carbon offsets for our flights, so I'm not too chuffed about it.
