That foot thing is just too bizarre. I'm not sure I agree with this quote from the CNN article though:

Not necessarily. The bodies could've been torn apart in various other ways. For example, being dashed on rocks by the surf or - if they are indeed victims of plane or boat accident - during the actual accident itself.

Since we're on this gruesome topic, it looks like that 6th foot turned out to be a hoax (animal paw planted in the shoe).

 

Apparently the first four - no, not matching - showed no signs of being severed, unlike the fifth. Number six was a joke, as the whole thing may possibly be. The remainder of the bodies might have sunk, with the feet being more protected inside the shoe. Gruesome, for sure, and bound to end up on CSI or in a crime novel.

 

No sense of humor... There's a difference between something being severed by any means, and something being intentionally severed by another human. Semantics...
