Oooops....sorry my fellow waiting list buddy! Ever since I saw my first (and only) SBM Prius in person I was hooked. I'm so lucky I'll be getting the exact car I want and won't have to accept a second or third choice in color or package.

Congratulations, Falk25. I'm driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee (bought Oct 1996) until my Prius comes in. I had planned to replace the Jeep this fall but realized I'd better get on the wait list in May. Since I keep cars a long time, the Prius makes great sense for the long haul.

I'm #1 on the waiting list (of about 40). I've turned down 5 cars now. I think they're starting to hate me. Whatever, for some reason they've only gotten 1 package 4 in this month and it was in that ugly green color. How much would it cost to just get the wrong color and have it painted? Scratch that, I'll just wait. :(

there are 2 prius' available (sitting on lot) @ John Newsome in Hartsville, SC. Both are base model (no package) and I believe selling for over $26k.

1 Black and 1 mint green.

Just got a call from the dealer I've got the deposit with. He wanted to touch base and make sure I knew he had not forgotten me. I've got the deposit for package 3-5 any color. He's telling me that there is a chance I'll be able to have one mid July. Don't know what color or package yet. With my car having over 220,000 miles and a few issues that could become accute (who knowns when) I like the idea of getting is so much sooner.
I put the deposit down June 12th with a estimate of 4-6 months. Since I ride my bike mostly during the summer I really don't want one this soon (want a bigger deposit), but don't want to turn down something I really what and chance something happening to the car.

We'll have to see when I get a call next what he has to say. I'll have to find out what will happen to my position on the waitlist if I turn it down. I won't turn it down if it's the exact model and color I really want. But if it's white or black I'll mostly turn it down at this point.

This is the biggest investment I've ever made and I'm a little nervous. But no one but me seem's to think it's anything but a good idea.

I just picked up my second 08 Prius #2 Package after waiting only 3 weeks. I gave them 3 color choices, and ended up getting my 3rd choice which was Barcelona Red. All in all the transaction was a great one paying MSRP with no tricks. I used Wayne Tyesky at Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa, CA and the whole transaction went off without a hitch. All in all over the years I've purchased probably 10 cars from them and each time the transaction has always been good. I think that one reason a lot of people are having to wait so long is that they will only accept one color. Adding additional colors may speed things up.

Got on a waiting list in late May & got my first call today. Sadly, not at all what I wanted, so turned it down (SPM, package #6 with all sorts of add-ons). Sad times. I was actually surprised they called me with it, given that it's so off from what I requested. Ah well, maybe next time. <sigh>

so i called the dealer today and was told late August... ugh. [okay, it's only been a week and a half, i'm being a drama queen!]

but my main problem is that my half-brother agreed that he would like to look into buying our old car ['03 saturn vue with 122k miles on it!] but he doesn't want to wait until the end of august... what do i do?! :(

I got the call yesterday for the right package, but not in one of my top three colors. But it's the mag gray so I'm planning to go ahead and take it and shorten up my wait. Anybody know how long it takes in between them "putting your name on the car" and having the VIN number available? The sales guy says he doesn't have the VIN yet, but will drop me a line when he does. I'm not going to move on selling my current car until the VIN comes in. They expect car delivery within the month.

I just did a search on Toyota.com for certified used 2007 & 2008 Prius. There are 80 2008's available and 316 2007's in the USA. The prices are all over the map and so are the cars. Grab your check book and go on a road trip.

We put a $500 deposit and signed an agreement via the Sam's Club buying program for a 2008 Touring, Package #3, Red w/gray interior.

We signed the agreement on May 30 for MSRP, which is the price returned by the Sam's Club buying service. I am dealing with the "Internet Sales Manager", who appears to operate somewhat apart from the rest of the sales force. (I do feel sorry for anyone trying to sell the "legacy" vehicles that no one wants any more). He said we might end up with a 2009. No mention of a price increase.

I called yesterday, he said the order is "in process" and I am still looking at September, though he said it could be as early as the first of August. He said he just didn't know for sure.

It is apparent that buyer experiences vary greatly by region and individual dealership. Good luck to all of us!

    ---

Our other car is a 2001 Civic 5-speed that gets 32/40, even with 170,000 miles. At the time I purchased it, the dealer tried his best to get me into an Accord, a CRV, anything bigger (I'm 6'5). I stuck with the philosophy I've maintained since I first got a car in 1980: what happened in 1973 can and probably will happen again, and I never wanted to be stuck with a guzzler. So I'll take this opportunity to pat myself on the back--except that I should have seen the Prius gold rush coming.

Got the call that my car was in yesterday ... now to negotiate the trade ... not a sure deal yet I guess depending on the numbers, but the dealer sure is in a great place with the demand on the Prius being high (won't have to give me a very good trade-in allowance).

My wait was just under 6 weeks for my Black Touring in Pkg #6 and I was told 2-4 months.

My salesman is pretty sure my SPM package 6 will be delivered to the dealership today sometime, so I am on pins and needles and not get very much work done! I've only had a 3-week wait...I don't think I could take too much more. I feel for all of you that are having to wait several months.

I got very lucky on mine...my neighbor got a Barcelona Red Prius a couple of months ago and I told the guy that sold it to her that I was in the market when I met him 3 weeks ago....no specific color, but I did want a Package 6. He called me a couple of days later to let me know that the dealership had a Silver Pine Mica with Package 6 scheduled for delivery this week that no one had reserved with a deposit. I was not quite sold on the color since the SPM doesn't look particularly attractive on the Toyota website. But he told me that the color would be lighter and more silvery-green than what was shown online so I went ahead and put down my deposit. I have since seen at least 3 other SPM's on the road and I really like the color. So I will be driving my new Prius by the end of this week.

As a plus, it will already have tinted windows and XM radio. I recently had Lasik surgery so the tinted windows are going to help tremendously with my light sensitivity. I'm ambivalent about the satellite radio, but I'm sure I'll appreciate it once I have it.

    Congrats on the SPM!

My Barcelona Red is still at sea, but scheduled for delivery 7/2 I too am on pins and needles.

Anybody going for the clear bra? I'm tempted to attempt install myself despite advise otherwise.

Add me to the list. They told me officially 6-7 months (maybe by Christmas!) but probably only 4 (we can but hope).

    Hello to all.

New to the forum and ordered out 08 Mag Grey Touring on 6/13.
The dealer called on 6/24 and told us that the car/package we ordered will be on the dock on 7/3 but with the holiday he didn't know when it would be in Tucson. It looks like we got lucky because it could be only 30 days from order to delivery. I'll believe it when he calls and tells us "It's Here".

I had a 2003 GMC Envoy that they didn't want in trade and again was lucky because I sold it in two days. Maybe everything will go our way.
