I pulled into a Mobil station yesterday to fill up. Only my third trip to a Gas Station, and my first to one with the fancy key-fob payment option.

You know the one where you wave the little Key Dongle at the pump and it knows where to find your money, like the Toll Booths do?

Well, after I pumped, when I was going in to pay (No I don't have a Mobil Key Thingie), I hit the button to lock the door, and it wouldn't beep.

I tried the hatch, no luck, then walked to the passenger door and was able to lock it.

Coming back out I again tried the Drivers Door (closest to the pump of course), and Smart Entry was unresponsive. Same for the hatch.

The Buttons on the Fob worked, and the Passenger door could be coaxed into working, but when I approached the pump it was just simply no dice.

Luckily, after my experimentation, the Smart Start still worked. I would have really felt bad if I had had to go slumming and actually put the Fob in the Dash

I just found it curious, and drove off wondering what other situations might jam the system.

Anyone else seen anything like this?

Yea, this was recognized pretty early on, but I haven't seen it discussed for a while. There are a few McDonald's that use the same "Speed Pass" system that interferes with the SE/S

The other day I was rinsing off my black 04 with SE/SS and from five feet away the stream of water acted like my hand and unlocked the door.(we have very hard water in S.D. acted like a good conductor)

This smart entry problem is actually discussed in the manual. You can expect the problem to become more prevalent as more and more fast food chains and gas stations start using the interfering technology. And the manual does state that it can also interfere with the smart start part of the system as well.
