True enough. I try to avoid that and instead look for spots shaded by structures or, if it's some time after noon, by long shadows from trees nearby but not directly overhead. For example, the parking place I use at work has trees adjacent to it on the western side but with no overhanging limbs. It gets plenty of sun during the morning but by about 1 or 2 pm it's shaded and stays that way until I leave.

I've noticed something a bit fishy here in AZ (temps around 110-113 lately). My last pip started blinking last week on the freeway. Within a few miles I could swear it felt like I may have been running out of fuel. I pulled over, and filled the tank within a mile of this (luckily the freeway ramp I was about to pass I knew a gas station was close to the exit).

I decided to fill my tank with 1 pip remaining (not-flashing) on Friday. I usually wait until it flashes but decided against it due to what happened the prior time. In addition I was just about to hit 500 miles on this tank and my mpg according to my MFD was in the 47mpg range because of a lot of idling and high speed driving I did that week. It ended up taking like 10.9 gallons. To me that's a little too close... and the last pip didn't even blink. When it was cooler under the same conditions I'd take about 3 gallons less under the same conditions.

I think the bladder just stretches out a lot in this 100 degree weather which makes a already inaccurate gauge even worse.

It seems to me that I am always running on fuel except when the car is stopped.
When does the battery come into play and can I effect when it does comes into play?

How do you it? We get 45 mpg in mixed driving with the AC at 77 and the blower at medium. Thanks

In Las Vegas we call it winter. It has been well over 106 here for the last week and my mileage has been very low (42). I just recently had the oil changed, the tires checked....even had tinting put on the windows to help keep the interior cooler. Couldn't put down the windows for 5 days so had to use the air....so my mileage went down. I am hoping to see an improvement tomorrow now that I can run with the windows open.
