Mr Prius MPG is dropping

    Does anyone know what the the official Toyota procedure is for testing the traction battery pack, and
    what the criteria is for initiating such a test ?    ​


    I ask because one of my prius's a 2006, is starting to become less efficient - that is the average MPG is
    dropping.....it has 22 k miles on it, and the driving conditions have not changed. I suspect the traction
    battery is failing.​

    I dont trust the dealers, so before I take it in, I am gathering information to be one step ahead of them.

    any specific information that could help us determine what's going on? (aka raw data?)

    i would be about 99% sure it's NOT the traction batt, but i guess stranger things have happened

    my mpg goes up every month. I now hover in the 57.6 to 57.8 mpg range for my typical 500+ mile tank. compared to 47mpg when I first got it 15 months ago. so either my hybrid skills are improving or the prius battery is broken in & doing better than before.

    your prius is under warranty so your dealer should work their nice person off trying to find the problem, because they know it'll be repaired on toyota's dime, and toyota right now has a lot of dimes to throw at your dealer.

    first things first, check the tires & the engine air filter
