It looks kinda flimsy. But perhaps it does the job...

    Ok,
Now I'll chime in about My bike rack set up now that I've tested it with bikes on the highway etc.
I have an 06 Prius seaside pearl
Bought the Curt 1-1/4 hitch for $158 w/shipping & installed Myself(piece of cake)
The hitch was an online purchase from thehitchstore.com
Bought the Allen 3 bike 430RR for $99 off amazon w/shipping extra.
This combination is thrifty and effective. when pushing this rack into the hitch you'll notice that the rack sits far out from the car to align the hitch pin, this is not necessary.Take out the pin then push the rack in as far as it will go.With a 1/2" metal drill bit and using the hitch pin hole as a guide, drill through the rack on one side then repeat on the other side. You're done-insert pin and pile the bikes on.
The reason I opted for a rear rack is so I can always see my bikes and what's going on.If You own a roof rack and see Your bike in the rearview mirror,it's too late!
When at highway speeds you can feel the effect on the car's handling on turns,I got used to it already.
A big note here on the hitch installation use an anti-seize (auto parts store)lubricant on the bolt threads.this will aid you in removing the hitch if you need to in the future.
Last but not least, I did not remove the sheild under the car, I used tin snips to make my slices and a 5/8"universal socket for the odd angles.enjoy

I was told that with a 1 1/4" receiver you weren't supposed to carry more than 1 bike. ??
I already have a 2" Saris rack, so I ordered the 2" hitch from Costaltech.
My Prius was supposed to arrive last Friday, but I'm still waiting. Will have to install the hitch before I leave on vacation Thursday. I'll post pics next week, and let you know how it works out.

    ;)Whoda,
I'm livin it. My bike closest to the car is a 28" schwinn 700c and the outer bike is an 18" Mongoose(heavy). As long as you keep the load as close to the car as you possibly can, I can't possibly see how you can bust the Curt 1-1/4.The only way that can happen is too much wobble for an extended amount of time.If you ever experience wobble address it immediately by wedging something between the hitch and rack or using the tape method as a previous blogger prescribed. IMOHO the Prius can be suspended by the Curt hitch via a crane, however all metal hitches do not like the wobble fatigue and will consequently fail in one way or another.
Hope this helps bro or sis -Glenn

For $369, there's way better for your money.

Yeah, the OP's link doesn't look like $369 worth of rack. My guess was <$75 when I first saw it. As described by meridian, you can get a Curt hitch and then your choice of nice hitch-mounted rack for less than $369.

FYI, many on this forum have had problems with the CT 2" (still a class I hitch, btw) hitch in terms of bending under load. One member has a fix that involves welding on another piece. You may want to check that out.

Here's some pics of My Curt/Allen setup. Prius rack 007.jpg

    Prius rack 002.jpg

    Prius rack 008.jpg

    Prius rack 010.jpg

Prius rack 006.jpg As you can see,the Allen is 1/8" welded steel construction and the hatch can be opened when the carrier is swung down. The entire rack can also be swung down when the lower detent(ball handle)is pulled. I don't have a hitch lock yet,so I just put the whole rack in the trunk and close the cargo cover when We ride. Overall,I'm happy with this set up,I'm a certified truck mechanic and would not go with this deal if I did'nt think it was kosher. There was wobble when I first inserted the rack but I shimmed it on one side
I hope this helps.I also did My homework by reading previous posts -So thank you all!

The Curt hitch I received did not line up properly right out of the box at first so I snugged up on the two drivers side bolts just enough for the frame to touch flat yet still allow lateral movement. Then used a heavy duty phillips head screwdriver to align the passenger side holes, caught the threads with a bolt in My other hand, tightened that bolt and then pulled the screwdriver to thread the 4th(last)bolt.
Now do a final tightening of all bolts. Sounds like a lot but the install was about 25min.- Glenn
