OK, just picked up my 08 Pkg 5 yesterday and I'm trying to set up and familiarize myself with all the goodies. In my pack of manuals, I can't find anything dedicated to operating the XM radio other than the little flyer with the channel listings.

I've fiddled with the various screens, but I can't find a way to direct tune to a specific channel. Surely you can do this??? Is there a manual for XM that I just somehow didn't recieve or what's the deal.

Well, first of all did you contact XM and have the radio enabled??? Tune to channel 0 and get the radio ID number call the XM 800 number , give them the radio ID, your credit card # and you probably got a certificate for 3 free months of service.

Simple .. took me 10 minutes on the phone!

    Good Luck

The radio came enabled already, I have six months free, plus I've been an XM subscriber for years, so I know my way around the system. What I can't figure out is, if I want to listen to channel 7, and I'm on 151, can't I just go directly to 7 like I can on virtually every other XM receiver I've ever seen?

To get from channel 7 to channel 151, why can't you use presets? Or tune each of your 3 XM settings to a different favorite & cycle through?

I can do that, but there are times when it's just easier and quicker to punch in the number. And I know I can just use the tuning knob but I'm just surprised that there is no direct tuning. I guess I'll just get used to it. But back to my original question, is there no manual for the XM receiver?

FrankZ, I just got XM tuner & kit installed yesterday on my 2007 Pkg 4 Prius and I have the same problem. When I turn the tune knob, it will go from 7 to 16 to 26 to 30.... I can't even get some of the genres when I do a Type Seek. Let me know if you find anything out and I'll do the same.

I have the same issue. I picked up my '08 Pkg#6 and XM works great, but I sorely miss NOT being able to tune directly to a channel. The presets are lacking, because there are only 6 per "mode" I can't seem to find a way to toggle back and forth between the 3 XM Modes. Once I get to Mode 3, i have to cyle back thru all the FM,AM and CD modes to get to XM mode 1. This is not good. I also miss the ability to have "favorite artists" notify as with other after market recievers. Guess i'll get used to it, but man oh man, this design could have been so much nicer and user friendly. Other than that , I love the car.

We just had Best Buy install an XM kit (bought on eBay) for an older model XM Radio we have been using in our Dodge Caravan. Just costs about $80 to install the kit and we can move the XM Radio from one car to the other.

Well, that's all well and good, but the whole point of my wanting it built-in was not having to screw around with all the extra wires, and having to use the FM tuner to listen to XM, etc. You'd think as much as they charge to install thses receivers, they would have features at least equal to a $49 Roady you can get at Best Buy.
