    Hi All,

Well, we just got home from this FANTASTIC event. First and foremost, thank you to Timefor for setting it up and to OC Prius Club for having a sign-in sheet. It was neat to see the names I see here posting as real people and not just typeface:)

By the time my hubby and I arrived (about 12:30) everyone else was pretty much in place, mixing, mingling and admiring each other's rides.

There was a preponderance of Silver ('04s & '05s) on display, a couple of Tideland (two parked right next to each other and yet they looked like two very different colors) a Driftwood, a Seaside, a brand spanking new Black and 3 lovely classics.

Mods of all sorts were on display, from the burlwood dash appliques and leather seats to several sets of GtCovers seatcovers, mudflaps, body side molding (which looked really nice in real life) one car bra (also looked much nicer to me in real life than it has in pictures) custom chrome wheels (shiny) and a sweet combo EV & NAV override switch. The switch was a home-brew but it was done so skillfully that you would never know that it was not a factory install. After seeing that, I am now going to be bugging my hubby to do the same for me.

Several of the cars (1st and 2nd generation) had aftermarket fog lights installed. All looked great. There was even one very clever mod for a classic that covered the tow hole in the front bumper. A wine bottle cork with a wire run through it to allow for easy removal was inserted in the hole to keep it clean, dry and protected so that it would work if it ever needed to be used (great job!).

Brownies were provided by OC Prius Club along with a great list of locations to find all sorts of OEM and aftermarket goodies. Super helpful and nice people too boot. Unfortunately, their car was unable to attend the rally (MFD trouble - so send them good thoughts).

The "Parade" stepped off about 1:15 and wound it's way down the sunny California coast attracting lots admiring glances along the way. Early on, while stopped at a light a great big Hummer sidled up and you never saw so many drivers pull out their cameras to record the moment. BTW, when the light changed the Prius' were way ahead. It sort of looked like the shape of things to come.

After a leisurely drive we again met up at Mother's Park in Long Beach. More mod talk ensued along with a comparison of MPG's. Then most adjourned to Ruby's (a hamburger joint) for lunch. A beautiful day, a wonderful event, meeting some great people and a seaside drive in my Prius does it get any better than that?

I gave my hubby my camera and he was kind enough to take some swell pics. Enjoy and I hope we will all get to do this again soon.

Take care all and have a great week!

Geez, do you have any idea of the mileage that the Hummer gets?

I mean, gosh, how many times does eight go into fiftysix?

Wholly coughing wheezers Batman, that Hummer drinks more gas than about all the Prii in those pics!

    And pollutes...

Hummer, total 90's overconsumption next to the revolutionary vehicle of the new decade.

I also enjoyed the gathering. Thanks again to Jayson (TimeFor) for organizing this.

My view of the Hummer below. There were at least 2 more Priuses behind me, so he had to drive by a bunch of us. :) Also, does that Salsa we passed along the way to Mother's Park belong to someone here on PriusChat? We also must've seen 10 more Priuses driving around the Ruby's Diner where we had lunch. :)

No Salsa Reds? How sad for you. It would have brightened up your day.

    Glad you guys had fun!

I would have come and brought mine, but unfortunately it was at the collision center (an upscale body shop?).

Two Sundays ago, a careless elderly gentleman pulled out from where he was parked at the curb just as I was passing his location. He got me on the right rear door, quarter panel, wheel (scratched) and bumper. The damage appeared minor, but is still cost almost $2,500 to fix (after an initial estimate of just under $1.500 by the insurance company adjuster). The fact that we were both insured by the same company complicated, as opposed to simplified, matters. I picked the car up today. She looks as good as the day I got her.

Hopefully, I will not suffer such a misfortune the next time such an event is planned in Southern California.
