I need some help. Two weeks ago I had my 2008 tinted with 40%/30%. The company had done 2 other vehicles for me, so I thought they would do a good job.

The issue is the rear window. It just is not easy/clear to see through anymore. It is like there are waves and at night it is just really wavy. I can't decide if it the defroster lines that don't let the tint sit flush with the window surface or a bad install. I've tried to chase down several local Prius owners with tint, but have not been able to talk to any of them.

To everyone with rear window tint, is the view out the back look wavy or do I have a bad install?

    Thanks,

PS. Love the car and glad I got it in Dec '07 at a discount!

I noticed that the upper glass on the rear hatch seems a little hazy after tinting when looking through the rear view mirror...but looks right when looking straight through it - from a 90 degree angle - so I thought it was just the property of the tint and angle of view.

hey BBUCK7777 - when you first tint a window, you generally need to wait 24 hours or so for the water to dissolve and for the tint to clear up. after 48 hours, if you still can't see clearly, you need to bring the car back to have them re-do it. after you tint, leave the car in SUNLIGHT. that will speed up the moisture process.

good luck and let us know what happens.

Isn't the rear window already tinted? Mine looks darker than the other non-tinted windows.

Thanks to all replies! It will be 3 weeks this Wednesday and the car went to Tucson with 109, so I this all the water is dried out. I'll take it back and see if I can get it redone. Let everyone know what results are. Thanks.

It sounds like you either had a bad install or they used a really cheap tint material, or both. I have no problem whatsoever seeing out of the back of my car during the daytime or at night. And there are no waves. I'd have a talk with your installer.
