I know this is really just a restatment of old question but I haven't understood the previous threads on the subject. It seems it is not uncommon to be unable to transfer address book from cell phone to hand free telephone via bluetooth.

I guess my question is the same. Is there a way that a cyberdummy can manage to export the motorola RAZR cell phone address book to the telephone system in my new 2008 Touring Prius with the #6 package?

If anybody does know a way, would you kindly put in in one syllable words that possibly even I could understand and tell me about it? I have followed the steps in the owner's manual line by line and waited fifteen minutes for the transfer to be "completed" but it never did that.

Somehow I managed to transfer one number (first one on the list) from my cellphone address book to the hands free system of the car, but don't have a clue how I did it.

Must I go buy a newer cell phone ?- this one is only two and a half year old and has always been a great cell phone in evey way.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you.

Some carriers (Verizon) cripple the data-transfer capabilities in their Bluetooth phone software. Unfortunately this limits or outright prevents transferring phone book data from the phone to the car. I understand that there's a way to transfer one contact at a time but I haven't made that work yet.

A while back, I tried to transfer my wife's RAZR V3 phonebook to her 2006 Prius bluetooth without any luck. On the other hand, my Blackberry address book automatically syncs with my Garmin nuvi whenever I turn on the nuvi's bluetooth.

My guess: If it doesn't happen automatically, it's probably not possible. There are numerous threads here about various phone adressbooks not transferring to the Prius bluetooth, and I think the RAZR has already been mentioned. Try a search...

Buy a cheap used Sony Ericsson phone on Ebay or Craigslist and use it to transfer your phone book to the Prius. It will transfer your entire phone book at once rather than one entry at a time like the RAZR. I used to have a T637 and it transferred the entire phone book the first time I paired it with my Prius.

My limited (and possibly incorrect) understanding of the problem is that some phones implement a behavior that requires the paired device to iteratively request each contact, while other phones automatically transfer the entire phone book upon the initial request. The Prius only does the latter, so you need a phone that will transfer the whole phonebook on its own when the request is initiated.

My Verizon Blackberry drops the BT connection whenever I try to transfer the entire phonebook. I haven't figured out how to sync individual contacts.

Good thoughts, good insights, good suggestions, good ideas - all of which I would not have conceived. I appreciate the help. I agree it won't do it alone, and that the idea of using a surrogate phone that is known to work is best - now I only have to figure out how to get the address book from the RAZR V3 to the surrogate phone! I'll work on it. Thanks again to the outstanding Prius community..

whats wrong with manually putting them in. unless you have 100's of contacts, it would have been a thing of the past as of now.

Strike that, I was wrong twice in this thread. I managed to sync my Blackberry phonebook to the car over the lunch hour. Once I set up the car to receive the phonebook it involved pushing the data from the phone vs. pulling from the car. Took about 5 seconds to transfer the data.

It's just a fun thing, kind of like the Prius. There is a system to see if you can operate and it's a small challenge and fun to pursue. I guess there is also an element of laziness and a little stubborness and just the general desire to see if I can do it - one way or the other. I have been known in the past to solve similar problems with a sledge hammer. (I am alert to keep it from reaching that point in this situation however.)
