That's why you have two outside mirrors. There is no requirement to see out of the back with two outside mirrors.

WOW,, What a load, that is great, I still say that the Prius can fit as much as my SUV did and now I think I really believe it!!

Yeah, when I bought a Papasan for my girlfriend a few years back I was pretty surprised that it, the base, the ottoman, all fit with ease.

 

One trick, remove the load floor under the hatch and you'll get 4-6" additional height. I got two bulky adirondack chairs and foot stool in that way. It looks like you did prety good though.

 

I went to Ikea and brought back a crib and 2 dressers in the Prius. My friend with a Suburban was convinced he'd have to drive down to bail me out, but no joy for him! ha ha!

I think the Prius is more than big enough for most people most of the time. If I ever need to haul more, I can rent something bigger. I guess if I have 3 more kids (I have 1 right now) I'd consider something bigger too though.

 

That is pretty impressive. I hadn't thought of removing the cargo cover.

I wonder if the backseats can be removed easily for additional room. Not a very good fix if you don't remove them before your cargo hauling trip.

I bought an overstuffed leather chair and ottoman at Target. Fit the both in and only had to remove the legs.

Before my Dad had his back surgery, we took a wheelchair with us so he could ride. I got that in the back cargo area without putting the seats down, as my Mother was riding in the back.

The most I've put in it is 7 garbage bags full of bougainvilla,




plus the branches of the cut trunk.

I put a twin mattress inside without a problem.

 

This one reason I was wanting a Prius, I prefer hatchback cars. The local dealer has gone on and on about a Corolla but that isn't what I want.

 

I regularly transport my infant son's monstrous Graco SnugRide "Travel System" stroller in the trunk. If we don't have anything else to transport, I just fold it up and throw it in the hatch, and it consumes ~80% of the "normal" space, i.e. below the tonneau cover line.

However, I was thrilled to discover the stroller can easily stand on edge and strap a bungee cord from one rear headrest to the other to hold it in place! Fits like it was made to go there, even the front double wheel straddles the slightly-raised headrest. The lip of the tonneau cover easily folds back and tucks behind the back seat.

Strapping the stroller up like this, leaves me with ~60%+ of my trunk remaining for groceries, etc... and the only part of my rear view that is blocked in this configuration is the lower glass below the spoiler. Beautiful.

Try that in a sedan!

I drove a friend and her teenage daughter home the other day. Today she told me "my daughter really likes your car!" I had noticed that she was fascinated by the backup camera when we left the driveway, but my friend said her daughter was surprised how roomy it was on the inside. She hasn't even seen it really loaded up!
